Kindergarten Graduation

Boy is May going to be busy. I have at least 30 cards on my desk I'm trying to get ready to get in the mail. That is just for friends and family, not including RAKs and Blog RAKS. I had to take time today and make a card for our graduates. Tonight is our Home school Play/Program. We will also be honoring our Kindergarten, 8th grade and High School Graduates. This is a card I made for a little boy who is graduating from Kindergarten tonight.

Pumpkin Flowers

Today's challenge on SCS was the Ways to Use is Challenge. The challenge was to make a card using a window sheet. This was not my original idea but I guess it was where I ended up. I created this card backwards. I started with window sheet, then did the pumpkin flowers. An after thought was the oval punch and words, then I decided to round the corners. Hey, it got done! I then thought it needed something on the outside. So I colored the flower and spritzed it with water to give it a weathered look and stuck it on with a glue dot.

Stamps: Doodle This, Warmest Regards
Paper: Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie, Window Sheet
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, White Stazon
Accessories: Apricot Grosgrain, Oval Punch, Corner Rounder Punch

Pink Monkey

Well, since I had a migraine yesterday I had to combine Monday's Color Challenge and Tuesday's Sketch Challenge on SCS. The migraine was not due to the fact that I got hit major from the SU! retiring list. I lost 43 sets and 6 wheels not including all the hostess sets. That was over half for me... The retiring accessories list will be announced on June 20th. I tried to use only the sets that did not retire for these challenges. Thankfully I have 3 nieces and a daughter who have birthdays this month. I spilled the brads trying to close the lid, so they hung out for the picture. Believe me I never would of done that on purpose! The monkey is embossed. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the shadow on the words and the spritzing tool for the background. I also sponged around the edges.

Stamps: Aida Cloth BG, Monkey Business, Loads of Love, Sincere Salutations
Paper: Pink Passion, Basic Black, Whisper White

Baltik Graduation

Today's challenge on SCS was to do the Mulberry Batik Technique. I do not have any Mulberry paper so I tried it using a coffee filter like someone else had suggested. I know it is not as nice as if I had used Mulberry paper but at least I got to give it a try. I embossed the Congratulations with Craft ink and Clear EP. I was working on a piece of scratch paper that had a spot of ink on green ink on it. When I got it wet it went onto my sheet :(.

Buckle Card

So I have always wanted to try a buckle card and I decided today was the day. Today's challenge on SCS was to use Orchid Opulence. It is a color I hardly use. I found this color combo on page 124 of the current catalog. I have also given myself a person challenge to grab sets that tend to sit on the bottom on my stacks. Ones the I "Just have to have" but no longer use. Only 5 more days until the SU! retired list is released. I am hoping it hits me big this year and I can clear out and get some new sets!

Palette Pocket Friends

This is for the sketch challenge on SCS. I just had to use the paper! It has been sitting on my desk unused for 2 days...It was calling my name! I let Shelby ( my 4 year old) carefully go through the pack and choose a color and pattern. It would of been way too hard for me. These papers will be in the next catalog come July. A sample pack will be on special for the month of May. I get stuck using only new sets or certain sets I love, so I made myself grab a set I have not used in a very long time. I also have a row of the punched daisies along the bottom of the inside.

Pocket Pickup Card

Well, since I seem to stuck on the trucks I decided to grab for another truck to play with today. Today's Challenge on SCS was to make a card with a tab. I've wanted to make one of these pocket cards so this is the avenue I choose to go down. I've loved the samples using the Word Window in this manner so had to add that to the card too.I cut the card as I would any normal card and then cut a section off from the bottom. I cut the inside liner just a 1/4" smaller and glued just the outside edges (minus the top). I thought it slightly humorous to have the word pickup where you opened the card. I love this hostess scrap kit and tried to use it for a masculine card. I used the coluzzle to cut my ovals. I found it is much easier to stamp the words and then punch them out if you do not want to get out your Stamp-a-ma-jig ;). I thought I could include a gift card for coffee or such on the pull out. I did not tie a knot in the ribbon. I fastened it with a glue dot on the front and back to avoid bulk.

Stamps: Loads of Love, Loads of Love Accessories
Paper: Cranberry Crisp, Friends and Flowers, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Cool Caribbean

Window Flower

I haven't had a lot of time this week to stamp. I love to do the challenges on SCS and seemed to be getting farther behind every day. So I decided today I was going to combine. I usually try to to them each day as announced, so this is not like me. Color Challenge,Sketch Challenge.

I stamped the background image in White craft ink on the black and clear embossed. I did not want too bold of white. I then stamped the flowers on the window sheet with black stazon. Then I brushed White Craft ink around the edges and in the flower center. I used my White gel pen to put white dots on the flower.

This was so hard to take a picture of as every thing reflected off of it. So sorry for the bad picture. It is cool IRL (in real life).

Paper: Cool Caribbean, Basic Black, Window Sheet
Ink: White Craft, Black Stazon
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, Black Gingham dyed with Cool Caribbean, Black Brads

Masked Truck

This card was done for the Sketch Challenge on SCS. I have wanted to do masking for awhile so I thought this would be a great sketch for that. I took my card base, cut a scratch over the center. I then stamped the words around the outside. I then masked the outside of the card by cutting a box in the center of some scratch paper. I stamped the trucks with Stazon ink and brayered over with Sage Shadow to give it a slight darker effect. The headlights and windows are covered with Crystal effects. The truck is popped up on Dimensionals

Pearl Ex Pickup

Sorry, I haven't posted in a few days. Our schedule has been very busy this week. The challenge today on SCS was to use a stamp that has never touched ink. I just got this set in last week and had only used the one truck, so this was perfect for me.
My boys loved that the truck looked metallic. I stamped the image of the truck on a sheet of acetate. I ran it through Xyron. I then used a small paint brush to apply the pearl ex where I wanted it. I ran it through the Xyron again to seal and make it into a sticker. I embossed the words.

Glitterbug

Well, I missed another birthday. You think as many cards as I make I would never be behind. This is for a little boy in our church who is a friend of my kids. I stamped the Dragon fly with Certainly Celery Craft ink and clear embossed. I then used my Versamarker to color in the wings. I then sprinkled heat & stick powder, heated and then Dazzling diamonds, heated. I made the shadow by punching with me small oval punch and sponging ink inside the punch out. The ribbon is made by fraying the grosgrain ribbon, just cut off on thin edge and pull. The large oval shadow is done the same as the small one SU! does not have Black Hodge Podge hardware and I needed black. I dipped it in Basic Black Craft ink, heated and dipped in Clear EP to get the color I wanted.

Love You!

Since our 22nd Anniversary is coming in a couple of days I thought it fit to make a card for my Dear Husband. This is for today's color challenge on SCS. I made the scallops with the slot punch and dyed the white grosgrain ribbon with the Cool Caribbean re-inkers. I dye a lot of this color. I use an empty brad container to mix my water, vinegar and ink. I leave the left over mixture in it and store in my Stampin' Stack.

I could not get the sentiment to fit like I wanted so I cut the bunnies hands to have him holding it. The bunny is embossed with black embossing powder and the sentiment is embossed with craft ink and Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. I used the coluzzle to cut my ovals.

Can't Resist Doodles

The technique I used is called Versamark resist but I just cannot resist using the Doodle This set. I love it! I saw a card this morning in my new Paper Craft magazine (April/May '07, pg 93) and just had to do it. They had made theirs with designer paper. Today's challenge on SCS fit this card perfect.

How to do Versamark resist: Stamp your image on Glossy Cardstock with Versamark ink, let dry. Run your brayer over top with your color ink of choice. The versamark will resist the ink color. If you need a closer look you can click on the picture of the card for a close up.

Gene's Birthday Card

Card Closed
So my favorite Father-in-Law will have a birthday next week. I used the color challenge on SCS to pick the colors for his card. Thankfully they could be used for a guys card! I figured since our kids act like animals while they are with him this set would fit very well. I sponged Marigold ink around the edges and sponges Brocade Blue in the centers. I roughed up the edges of the circle with the Cutter Kit. I figured that to would fit since we are a little rough around the edges :)

Watermark

Usually I spend my Sunday afternoon streaming the audio from the morning sermon onto the church Web-site. We had a slight mix up this morning...the main sound man was on vacation, his 2 back ups where leading songs and preaching in Children's church and the other was absent today so nothing was taped. So, I had 3 free hours on my hands. I decided to work on a new watermark stamp to place on my cards. What do you think? I tried to use the same flower image I used in my banner. I guess if I change my banner I will have to make a new watermark logo.

Friend

Boy was today's challenge on SCS a challenge for me! I guess that is why they call it a challenge (duh!) I was only to use a sentiment stamp with no other stamps or layerings. Embellishments could be used as much as you want. I never use my metal edged tags or buttons (I'm a horder with them) and thought this would be a good challenge to get them out.

The background was cling wrapped (haven't done that in a very long time!) It does not show well in the picture on the tag.

I used the spiral punch again to do the ribbon on the top and bottom.

Stamps:
That's Nice
Paper: Really Rust
Ink: More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Bravo Burgundy

Another try

Ok, I just could not let it go. I had to do another one. This woman is originally in a boat so I had to mask the boat to just get her. Of course I missed the tip of the boast, so lets' pretend it is a basket she brought to gather flowers. ;) The sky was done with torn paper and sponge.

Now I have to get my chores done or my stampin' ladies will have to prep their own projects on Thursday night :)!!

The flower was cut out, colored with Aqua Pens and Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I then curled and painted with Mod Podge. I needed another form of Lilac and I remember I had some cell phone bling in my draw.

Celebrate

I just cannot stop using these Spring Mini sets! This is for WT103 Challenge on SCS.
To use fabric on our card. I forget to ever use the wide Twill tape so this was a great push.

I used the Spiral punch to punch the bottom edge of the card to weave the ribbon through. Glue dots are used to hold it in place. The front is cut a little shorter and the back also has a strip of DS placed just the opposite of the outside.

Brackets

So here is how you make the brackets with the Rounded tag punch.

1.) Punch the tab.

2.) Reposition punch just to the side (sliver) of what was just punched.
Do this twice if you want two . :)
You can punch from the same side or the opposite.

3.) Trim punched sliver to make brackets. I like to use the liquid glue (b) to adhere.

Family

Well, todays challenge on SCS was to make a card without using anything floral. That means stamps, wheels, Backgrounds, punches, or embellishments. I've been so stuck on the Spring Mini floral sets, I was stumped on what to do. So I thought no floral, I have to make a guys card.
I still got to use one of my sets from the Spring mini. border="0"
