Strawberry Flowers

Love, Love, Love this color!!!  I am very pleased with the ruffled ribbon.  It is not too big or thick and easy to use. I bought the clear mount Flower Shop set so here is what I did to make sure I stamp the flower to line up with the punch.  I stamped the flower on a piece of scratch paper and  then lined the punch up.  The punch has a gap at the top.  I took a sharpie marker and put a line on the bottom of the stamp where the gap is.  That way when I stamp the flower I just make sure that the gap with the line is on the top.

Blue Bird

Once in a while I get a request for a sympathy card.  I have such a struggle with these because I do not want to make them dark and dreary.  I made this card about 3 months or so ago.  I know I saw the idea somewhere but like usual I cannot remember where.  I know I had to make some changes be cause not everyone has the same as everyone else.  To do the top half I stamped the birds (with the blue one colored in with a marker) then I covered it with a cut out piece of scratch paper.  I then stamped the background stamp over top to leave the rest open.  Lots of sponging here!

Calypso Floral

I just recently bought this set and have been wanting to do the resist technique with it since I saw it.  I embossed the image with clear embossing powder.  Then I dabbed the colors I wanted where.  I wanted it a bit darker in the center so I used the marker to color that area in.  The ribbon is one of the free items in the SAB catalog.  You only have until March 22nd so make sure you order now to get all of the free SAB items that you want!!

Thanks from the Heart

I loved the layout the was used on a card that I saw on line.  There was no watermark on the card so I  do not know whom to give credit to. To get the sentiment to fit into the frame the way I wanted to I had to color it with the Early Espresso marker and leave off a bit on the bottom of the Y.   Another super easy fast card!

Rows Of Butterflies

I very rarely get a chance to stamp on a Wednesday. My kids all have band lessons that I have to run them to and then get ready for church. Since we had a storm today that started out with freezing rain and then dropped 8" (so far) of snow, there was no band and there is no way we are going to make it to church (30 min drive in good weather) so I finished my daily chores and was allowed to stamp.

I had a friend who had surgery today and so I wanted to make a very bright and cheerful card for her.  I love curling these butterflies and it makes it so easy with the new punch.

Typed Thank You

I try to buy only what I love from the Mini catalogs and try to hold off to see if they make it in to the big catalog.  That way, as a demonstrator, I get more use of of the product.  I only keep current merchandise.  So if you are looking for anything retired please check out my store.  I have many, many things for sale!  This mini (good through April 30th) I was not so good at holding back.  Even though I knew how little stamp time I would get due to my busy schedule with doctor appointments and the children's sports February through June I just had to make sure some of the merchandise was there for me when I did get a short break.  One of the sets I just HAD to have was the Your'e My Type.  It has so many possibilities for designs. It is so easy to cut out and looks great embossed.  I also HAD to have the new Framelits.  I cannot wait to play with them more and show you a great way to store them that makes them easy to use and keep.

Eagle Birthday Card

I took sometime yesterday to get a start on the sketch challenge.  My #2 son has a birthday next week and I need to get his card mailed off so it will get to him on time at college. I must of bounced back and forth for a few hours before I decided to stay with the sketch and how I was going to put it together.  I had it all stamped and laid out and then someone threw the mail on my desk and whoosh pieces were every where.  So when I got up this morning I decided to start gluing things together before I had to run the boys to instrument lessons. The eagle was stamped and then run through the Big Shot with the die.  I have had the clear rectangle die for a while and have never used it.  Boy, was it easy!  I could see the image so I knew the image would be centered. I stamped another eagle and then cut around him as close as I could get.  I layered it as perfect as I could on top on the on in the rectangle with Dimensionals cut to fit. I do not think there was an edge that I did not sponge, as usual.  I do need to play with the Letterpress plates more.  I read somewhere that different papers make a difference...just need to give them a try.  Off to get this in the mail before I run the boys to basketball practice.

Merry Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas!!! I have not had much time to stamp the last few months because I have been working on these Christmas cards.  My boys have instrument lessons and basketball practice so I sit in my truck on an average of 3 hours a day waiting for them.  I used a lot of that time for assembly.  I pray you all have a very Merry Christmas and that you celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. God Wants You to Know.  I wanted  a vintage look so I did quite a bit of sponging.  I think there was not one edge left unsponged.

Envelope of Butterflies

Well, today was a hard one. This card went together soo slow.  I got up with the thought that I wanted to do the sketch challenge.  I just could not get things going. I just sat and stared at it.  I went to see if I could get some motivation from my colors and just stood there in front of my card stock rack and nothing....  So I grabbed my new color coach and just started spreading out the colors to see if something caught my eye, of course it was the Cherry Cobbler.  I might as well put loads of it on my order now so I never ever run out.  According to the Color Coach the colors under the Creative Combination were Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso.  So I grabbed a sheet of each and ran with it.  I laid them out and I must of rearranged them 15 times before I got them in an order I was happy to proceed with.  I had done a blog design a while back for someone where I had buttons being poured out of an envelope.  That is what I saw here after I sat and stared at my set, dies, and colors. So off I went to see if the vision in my head would look as good in paper and ink.

The first thing I made was my envelope.  I scored it and folded it so that it would fit through my scallop oval punch.  I folded the scored edges in and cut them from the flap area.  I then slid the whole thing through the punch until I had the flap just where I wanted it.  Next I sponged the Cherry Cobbler ink around all of the edges and ran it through the Big Shot with the Impression Folder.  I glued it together and moved on to figure out what size I wanted my circles to be.  I cut them out with my Scissor Plus, stamped and sponged.  In the beginning I had the ribbons going straight out but in the long run I wanted them flared just a bit.  I toyed with many variation with punches for the sentiment and found I liked this combination the best.  I just got the Tag Dies and I know I will get my money's worth out of them. All in all this card took me about 3 hours from start mail, which is extremely long for me. Well, off to sign it and put it in an envelope to mail yet today.  Thanks for stopping!

Felt Thank you

I actually had the time today to do one of the color challenges.  The colors were Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink and Rich Razzleberry.  I had those three colors sitting on my desk for hours this morning just walking past them while doing my chores trying to figure out how I wanted to use them.  I caught the Felt Sweet Pea kit sitting on my shelf out of the corner of my eye and it all just fell together.  I ran the sponge over the high points of the embossed spots to give more dimension.  I also sponged around the edges.  I did add the old Olive leaves so I hope I was not breaking and challenge rule, but they just needed that extra to be complete.  I tore one of the min glue dots in thirds to mount the mini butterflies.

Merry Christmas 2009

Merry Christmas! I hope you are able to spend this day with loved ones. Today I want to share with you the card I sent out this year. I took the idea for the inside from the Catalog this year on page 31.  When I think of the word JOY I think of a song we used to sing in Sunday School as a child.  It was "Jesus, and others, and You what a wonderful way to spell JOY.  Jesus & others and you in the life of each girl and each boy. J is for Jesus for He has first place, O is for others we meet face to face. Y is for you in whatever you do.  Put yourself 3rd and spell. JOY."  So that is where I took the concept from the catalog.  I hope you have the JOY I sing about this Christmas in your life.

I had my family cranking away on the Big Shot this year.  My poor  Merry Deatils Sizzlits Die must have gone through over 1000 times.  It does look pretty rough but still works great. I know after making 100 of these, next years cards may end up being very very simple. ;)  I ran the 12" X 5.5" piece through the printer to get everything I wanted on the 4th panel first. Then I put my top border on and scored and folded.  I went through a few bottles of Tombow Multipurpose glue. ;)

Peru Christmas Card

Reminder to post something on the MDS Blog Candy Post to win a free SUO MDS Blog Background.

Our Home Educator's group chooses a mission to donate to every year for Christmas. Since this years package is headed to a mission orphanage in Peru later this week we had to get going on it. Each family was also suppose to make a hand made card to send with our gifts. So here is the card coming from our family. I was stumped on what to put behind the manger image but knew I wanted something there. I ended up punching the same size circle, cutting it in half and spreading it to each side a bit, The image is embossed. I have not embossed for a very very very long time. The card fave was stamped with En Francias and the Medallion, I stamped the first one with full ink and in the opposite corner I stamped right again without inking again. I also sponged around the outside edges of everything but the Real Red. I ordered a light tent yesterday since the sun may not show itself again until May. I hope it will make my cards look more real to life.

Stamps: En Francias Background, Medallion Background, Season of Simple Grace, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White, Basic Gray
Ink: Basic Black Craft Ink, Real Red, Basic Gray
Accessories: 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Curly Label Punch, Modern Label Punch, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Impressions Folder Petals-A-Plenty

Rusty Medallion

So I had a day to play and I decided I was going to see what I could come up with in the time I had to create with my new Medallion background. So for the next few days you will get to see those :) To do the sentiment I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to just off set the words just slightly. The ovals in Really Rust were punched twice to go behind the sentiment oval. I just did not want the layering to be that much bigger. Since I did so much sponging I thought it fit to sponge the edge of the very vanilla ribbon too. The re-enforcement on the tag was done with the 1/2" circle punch and my hand held circle punch. The sentiment is popped up with pop up glue dots.
Stamps: Sanded Background, Medallion Background, Teeny Tiny Wishes, En Francias Background,
Paper: Really Rust, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Really Rust, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Natural Hemp Twine, 1/2" Circle Punch, Hand held circle punch, Large Oval Punch, Modern Label Punch
