Rainbow Birthday Cake

My 8 year old Daughter needed a birthday card for a friend. She wanted it to be bright and very colorful.  She gabbed the new Color Coach and found the color she wanted dominate on the card.  He color was Melon Mambo.  She flipped over the card and it says to use Daffodil Delight, Pretty in Pink, and Tempting Turquoise as the go to colors.  So she go them all our for me and said "These are what I would like you to use Mom..." So I went to work.

Lucky for her I had just gotten my Sale-a-bration order in and was looking forward to working with some new things.  I have admired the new Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Die.  I just had to put it on my first order and of course I had to use it on my first card.  The vellum adhesive is under the ribbon and the cake that way it is held on but not able to be seen.

She wanted lots of hardware and bling and I think she had gone through the whole catalog and picked everything out.  I let her pick out one piece for the Hardware kit and then she had to choose between the pearls or the rhinestones.  We added the small rhinestones on every other scallop on the cake stand, one in each top corner of the vellum and one large one in the center of the ribbon slide. The ribbon is two pieces, one is wrapped around the top layer and the other is tied and and the pulled through the ribbon slide.

Rich Razzleberry

This is probably my favorite In Color this year. have I said yet how much I LOVE the fact that we have In Color Markers?!?! I stamped both images in the Melon Mambo and used the Rich Razzleberry to accent them. I used the new Perfect Details Texturz plate (only $3.95 for 2 designs) to do the embossing on the lower panel

I just realized I never got around to completing my card details with the proper materials. Sorry to those who thought I had lost my mind in my copy and paste world. ;)

Harvest

This was for the Try a New Technique Challenge. I had never tried an accordion card before. I thought this would be fun. This card took me forever to finish. Of course this is not even the idea I had when I started. I was going to do something with my die cut bird. So it just kept building and building. It was hard to get a good angle. The camera just cannot see what the eye can...

Now I need to figure out where this card is going. I have been trying to only make things that have a destination. I have soooo many cards yet to send and am so far behind. I suppose it would be good to send to someone in the family we will not get to spend Thanksgiving with or as a Thank you to a family who shares quite a bit of their garden harvest with us.

Criss Cross Cuts

So I had some time today and wanted to do some stamping. I went and grabbed one of the Sketch challenges that I missed while my life was too busy to stamp. The smaller front was stamped with Old Olive Print Pattern. The dashed lines were added with a Chocolate Chip marker. I sponged some Chocolate Chip ink around the edges. For the sentiment I stamped it twice, once with Old Olive and once with Chocolate Chip. I punched it out with the small oval punch, behind it I punched Old Olive with the Word Window Punch and Chocolate Chip with the large Oval Punch. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Full Size Bronco

I wanted to use two aspects in this card. Since the Hodge Podge Hardware in the current catalog will be retiring when this catalog goes in august I think it is time I stop hoarding it and use it. The other thing I want to show case is the envelopes. I make a few full size cards (8.5" x 11" folded in half) for our Home Educators's group to send as Thank Yous etc. I use to make my own envelopes until I actually sat down and read the sizes of envelopes we sell....I can get 20 of them for $5.50. That is quite a bit cheaper than what I was making them for and a much better quality.
To do the main image of the card I punched out a 1 3/8" circle put in on the Very Vanilla cardstock with temporary adhesive. I then ran my brayer with Certainly Celery Ink over it until it was covered, then stamped the bronc on it.

Circle Sketch

Did I go overboard on the sketch challenge? I just kept adding and adding and adding. I tried to keep the image simple. I have vowed to stop hoarding the hodge podge hardware since I read the the finishes in the current catalog will retire with this catalog. I cannot wait to see what they are coming out with to replace it. I guess the layout kind of reminds me of my schedule fo rthe next 2 weeks before school gets out.

Color Challenge

Boy, was the >Color Challenge today a doozee! The colors for today are Night of Navy, Real Red and Glorious Green. When I asked my kids what they thought of my card they all said it would be better if I had used different colors....Well, I think it turned out kind of Christmasy. We had some nice weather almost to the 70's. Now it is freezing cold again and suppose to snow today so I guess it fits. ;)

Wasabi White

Here is another attempt for me to use the Pretties... Maybe I should just make myself use the Pretties kit every Friday. ;) This time I just decided to stamp on them. The Limited Supplies Challenge for the day was to only use two colors. The other color had to be white. So the first thing I did was check my ribbon, between the stitched and the stripped I had a lot of white combo choices. I had stamped the main image in Wasabi on White and it was just to much white. So then I decided to stamp the image on Glossy with Versamark ink, roll over it with my brayer and Wild Wasabi ink. It is hard to tell but I stamped the Stitched background over the designer paper in Wild Wasabi. Have a FANTASTIC weekend!

Dad's Day

So I decided with today's Sketch Challenge I would start playing around with ideas for Father's day cards. I think I go the measurements correct. This is another of those cards that I knew what I wanted but kept having to tear it apart to get it to be just that way. Does that ever happen to you? In the end I was very pleased how it turned out. In case it is hard to see I sponged some of the Chocolate chip around the top and bottom edge of the Pumpkin.

Colored Essence

Well, I've wanted to try coloring this image with markers for a long time. I finally took that time this morning. I colored the image with the markers and huffed on it to moisten. The layout was a freak accident. Remember I am trying to Home school my 5 kids at the same time I am designing my cards. It was not going so easy this morning....I finished my image and measured. When I went to cut the Ruby Red trim I cut it wrong...so I decided just to use it and turn it sideways. Another error I made...I intended to use the Not Quite Navy since I do not use it very often. When I went to stamp the butterflies down the edge I grabbed the Night of Navy. Oh well! Despite all of the re-creating I think it turned out fairly well.
Stamps: Essence of Love
Paper: Naturals White, Not Quite Navy, Ruby Red

Cutie Bug

So today was the color challenge on SCS. the colors were Wild Wasabi, Purley Pomegranate and So Saffron. I had some major troubles getting this to work...maybe it is because I am suppose to be getting my things together for my workshop tonight and not doing this. Oh, well! I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to put the words but I did it before I put the brads on, so the words are not centered as I intended them to be.

Olive Rub-Ons

Well, I guess today was the day I finally used my rub-ons! As you can see I still need some practice. As I was putting the adhesive on the back I rubbed it against something I had on my desk and part of the flower came off. No going back after that! For those who know me, know that I am not a silver person. I love gold, silver and I just do not mix. So I pre-ordered the ribbon slides in bulk just for fun. I thought they were so adorable I just had to buy the whole new Silver Hodge Podge kit! These will be available on March 1st from the Occasions Mini, as will the Olive Poly Twill. I will post a link on that date for those who may not of received it in the mail

Bleached Sails

So today I was going through my left over cards. I always tend to prepare extras for workshops and then have some left over. If I have time I try to make them up the next day, but that does not always work out. If I do not have time they get put in a plastic shoe box to be completed later. This poor left over sat so long that the DSP that came with the kit had retired, along with some of the other aspects. So I decided to go my own way. I've wanted to emboss and bleach so that is what I did! I embossed the boat and used my Aquapen and bleach to color in the sails. I used the 1/4" circle punch to punch the holes for the ribbon. I wanted something different and it seems to fit. I also embossed the words and then punched them out. I bought this set because my 8 yr old loved it. I must say thank you to him again! The card measures 3" x 6" and will fit in our 6 3/4" x 3 /12" envelopes.

Kind Flower / Recipe Tin

So this is for today's Color Challenge. The colors were Purely Pomeganate, Kraft and Whisper White. The dots in the center of the flower are white. I decided to add a little glam to the card so I wiped the center of the flower in versamark and embossed with Iridescent Ice.

I really wanted a stem on the flower and could not use green so I decided to make a stem with piercing.

I tend to hoard my hardware so I had to force myself to use them today. Sorry to keep it short, off to another doctor appointment for our son.

Stamps: En Francais, Baroque Motifs
Paper: Purely Pomegranate, Kraft, DSP
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Versamark
Accessories: Scallop Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 1/8" Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Hodge Podge hardware, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder

So I ordered a large amount of these tins. I've done quite a few, but decided to get some cleaning of my craft closet done and finish a few more. This one will be going to my daughter-in-law to hold her recipes (or whatever she wants to put in it...) :) I have a dozen of these all put together just ready for their last seal of Mod Podge. This is a great use of the Designer Paper on sale this month!

The flower is done with the 1" circle punch, the 1 1/4" circle punch, the scallop circle punch and the 1/8" circle punch. The DSP is adhered with Mod Podge and the whole thing sealed with Mod Podge.

70th Birthday

One of my friends had a birthday party for her father this weekend. She asked if I had a card that she might be able to give him. This is what I came up with. I used the cracked glass technique on his age. You can find a tutorial for it here. It also just happens to be the Technique challenge for today. This is also a side hinge card. The edge is scored and sealed together with sticky strip tape.

Triple Challenge

Wow!! Friday's Challenge on SCS is the Limited Supplies Challenge. Today's was to pick an old Sketch Challenge and an old Color Challenge, choose no more than 2 embellishments (preferably hoarded ones), and to use 1 or 2 stamp sets you have not used for a long time. When this set came out in the Mini I had to have it. I am not a now persona so I hardly use it, even though I have seen some adorable ideas for it. So I randomly clicked a sketch page and closed my eyes and picked. I did the same with the color challenge. I ended up with Sketch Challenge 27 and Color Challenge 29. I seem to hoard my Hodgepodge Hardware buckles so I made myself use one. One was not soooo bad. For the snowflake panel I stamped the snowflake in versamark and clear embossed. I then sponged the other colors randomly over. Just let me add...I LOVE my Stamp-ama-jig!!!

Stamps: Cold Play, Snowflake Wheel
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Whisper White
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Basic Black, Versamark
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware, Clear Embossing Powder, 1/4" Grosgrain: Bravo Burgundy, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke

Fall Leaves

Today's Challenge on SCS was the Way to Use It Challenge to do a Halloween card. Since I do not have anything halloween we had the option to do a fall card. For those who know me, they know I love it hot. I wish I could still have the heat with the fall colors. I live in the woods and love just driving down my driveway watching the trees turn colors day by day. Isn't is fascinating how God placed the trees just in the right places so the colors are so enjoyable. If fall colors do not show our Great Creator I do not know what does. What if He would of placed all the yellow tress together...not so pretty! The leaves are curled up on the card. I wanted to do the Polished Stone Technique again. This card seems to be missing something (Maybe the sanded background, LOL!). Have a great day and stamp something today!!
Stamps: Aida Cloth, Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Glossy White, Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, Old Olive, Very Vanilla

Starstruck

S0 this card was made for today's Sketch Challenge on SCS. I am not a snow person (and choose to live in Wisconsin...go figure). I am addicted to punches and just had to have the Snow Blossom punch. I am always looking for other ways to use it. I still am undecided if this card is too busy or not. The Snow Blossom star is popped up with a glue dot. I am always short on guy cards so this set will be great for that!
