Clay Flower Dress

So I am obeying the Neurologists and letting my brain heal.  I was told to do lots of things with dexterity and things I enjoy so what is better than stamping!  I am not sure why the image of the sketch is so small but you can see it at Splitcoast if you want to stop by and give it a shot.  I have been playing a lot with the molds and clay lately and this is another of the things I have wanted to do with the flowers.  It is much prettier in person as the Dazzling Diamonds in the clay just does not photograph very well.

Stamps: Bring on the Cake
Paper: Strawberry Slush, Early Espresso Coredination, Very Vanilla, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Strawberry Slush
Accessories: Strawberry Slush 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim, Simply Pressed Clay, Blossoms Clay Mold, Extra Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Basic Pearls, Basic Rhinestones, Dress Up Framelit, Big Shot, Dazzling Diamonds, Pretty Print Embossing Folder, Scallop Oval Punch

Elegant Cantaloupe

I had seen someone put a rose in the center of the butterfly and loved how it looked so I thought I would give it a try.  I was going for the vintage yet elegant look.  I love the Doilies but I tend to use more Very Vanilla than Whisper White.  So I filled one of the Spritzers with rubbing alcohol and a few drops of Crumb Cake re-inkers.  I sprayed it, let it dry and sprayed it again.  It gave it the tea stained look I was looking for.  For the flower I put a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds in the mold before putting the clay into it.  I had pre-colored the clay Crisp Cantaloupe.  Admission: I have not yet ordered the re-inkers for the new In Colors and I had my heart set on this color so I dabbed the clay in the pad, mixed well, dabbed again until I got the color I wanted.  Now I know I will have to add at least this color to my next order.

Stamps: Papillon Potpouri
Paper: Soft Suede, Crisp Cantaloupe, Very Vanilla
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Crumb Cake-in Spritzer bottle
Accessories: Big Shot, Pretty Print Embossing Folder, Designer Frames, Embossing Folder, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Simply Pressed Clay, Blossoms Clay Mold, 5/8" Victoria Crochet Trim, Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Dazzling Diamonds

2013 In Colors

One of the things I love about SU and probably one of the things that drew me to SU almost 14 yrs  ago is all of the co-ordinating colors.  Here is the new 2013 In Colors.  They so so super well together.  I added a drop of Dazzling Details in various spots of the flowers and then again by the sentiment.

Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush

Serene Tape

This card contains 2 things I have wanted to try for a while. 1.) I used tape to do the stripes.  The card idea I saw it on she used painters tape, which I did not have, so I used some vinyl duct tape that I knew would peel right off of the Card Stock. I laid the tape sticky down across the ink pad and ran my finger over it.  I then laid it on the Card Stock and rubbed my finger across it again to transfer the ink.  2.) I corner cut my framelit card stock so the layering was not so wide.  The step up is just too big for my taste.  So I cut out 2 of the Wisteria Wonder, corner cut them and filled in the 4 rounded corners.  Once I ran it through the Big Shot with an Embossing Folder you can't even tell and I have more space to show off the DSP in the background .  I love these colors!!

Brown Sugar Best Wishes

I have always wanted to do the ink on the embossing folder and just have never gotten around to it...until today.  Since it was my first time, I was pretty messy but I have learned and will be doing it again.  I decided to just use a strip.  I added the embossed edges to the sides.

Calypso Butterfly

I love this stamp!  It is so pretty and elegant.  I found this idea from AmyK.  It was simple to put together and I really get stuck on monochromatic cards.  The front is sprayed with a shimmer spray to give it a bit of a shimmer.  The sentiment is on dimensionals so it does not get lost in the other layers.

Dazzling Dress up

I have wanted this Dress Up Framelit for sooo long and finely broke down and added it to my last order. I hope I do not over use it so you get bored of it! Lol.   To make the jacket I just ran the sleeved dress through with only the top part on the paper.  I cut it down the center and trimmed a bit off of each edge.  For the dress I just wrapped the ribbon and fastened in the back.

Bright Blossom

I set out to use a few items that I have not touched for a while.  I never thought to layer the Doilies behind the Frame nor did I think to "cut it out using the Ovals Framelits.  No, they are not a perfect fit but much nicer than having to hand cut them out when your hands are not always very steady.  My daughter loves all of the bling I added. Lol

On a personal note:  Many of you know I have been dealing with some medical issues for the last 5 years.  I have seen sooo many doctors and had given up hope to ever find out why I was loosing the use of my left side.  The last few days my husband and I have spent at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  What we have learned from my new neurologist is that for some unknown, odd reason 5 years ago the right side of my brain mis-fired so the messages from my brain to my left side where being side tracked which was not giving me control on how my body was acting and feeling.  I have started therapy and training to see if we can get the derailed train I call a brain back on the right track.  She is hoping that by Christmas I should be able to walk without the cane and that my left hand will obey.  I have gotten pretty good over the last 1-1/2 years at working without them (as they had gotten worse over time) but now that I know there is hope and possibility for them to work again they will get a work out.  Please keep this in your prayers as she said it will be physically and mentally exhausting, but I am going to give it all that I have!

Blossom Blessings

A fun, simple card.  I wanted to play with some of the new and return colors.  I think the Cajun and Cantaloupe go very well together with just a dash of Curry.  I did a bit of a different fold on this on.   The card is cut 5.5" x 4" folded and is layered on a single 5.5 x 4.25" backing.  The paper piercing added  just that little extra touch I was looking for.

Stamps: Blooming with Kindness, Blessings from Heaven
Paper: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink: Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Crisp Cantaloupe, Early Espresso

I love this butterfly stamp!  I have done numerous cards of the partial butterfly but have never done a full sized or have I ever colored it was that day!  I stamped it and then cut it out.  Of course the antenna were too hard to cut just as they created them so I cut them a bit wider and colored the extra in with the marker.  I colored it all in with re-inkers and the aqua painters,  then I went over some choice areas with the markers.  I sprayed the whole thing with glimmer spray, after it dried I curled it up and glued the center and the corners down.  I added the sentiment and it is ready to go.

Edged Butterfly

I wanted a very cheery look and when I saw this layout on another card it reminded me of a rainbow.  I have had a lot of request for "Prayer" cards so I will be working on them off and on for a while.  This is the first time (that I remember) that I have layered the 2 butterfly is not my last ;-)
