Bella Top Note

Ok, so I hope I did not deter from this sketch too much. I really wanted the Top Note Section to go under the ribbon and not on top of it. The challenge (being October is Breast Cancer Awareness month) is to use the color pink. I sponged around all of the pink with Chocolate Chip, just to give it more of an aged look. This Designer Paper is so elegant I did not want to cover it up so I used a simple yet elegant Rub-on. I was tempted to add piecing or brads ect but decicded I wanted the paper to speak for itself. Sorry for the dark photo. It is very windy outside and I just did not feel like going down off the deck a dozen times to pick my card up out of the yard....;)

Dear Friend

Boy, how things work out! When I went to bed last night I thought about making a pink card. I had no stamp sets or ideas in mind, I was just in a pink mood. So when I saw the color challenge this morning I about fainted. It was to use Pink Pirouette, Basic Black and White. I wanted something soft and pretty. My daughter has a birthday party for one of her best friends this weekend so I wanted a card for her. This little girl reminds me so much of Shelby and Hannah, when they actually do stand still that is....

I wanted a deep black image on the Pink Pirouette ribbon and the black ink just was not black enough. So I wheeled the image on the ribbon with versamark ink and embossed with Black Embossing powder. Since we do not have Craft ink in the In Colors I stamped with the Pink Pirouette and then used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp over it with the Versamark so I could emboss with clear embossing powder. I then sponged around the edge of the image. This set is not in the catalog but is on the dormant list so it is still able to be ordered.

This was an idea I had that is funny now but was not at all fun...I wanted to use my Rub-ons since I tend to hoard them, but know I have to use them. I put the image on the cardstock and found the punch I wanted to use. I punched the section out and the punched section slid right into the head of the punch. Can you believe that???? This really steamed me since there is only one of those in that color on the sheet! So I shook and tapped and prayed and nothing. My son came in to ask me to check his Bible test and I told him what happened. I shook it to let him hear it was in there and squeezed the trigger and it flew out. So I was able to finish the card. I sponged a bit of black around the edge of the oval pink. Ipopped up the sentiment with a pop up glue dot.

Mixed Up Silhouettes

So I actually got to do a Color Challenge today. I love these colors. I think one of my boys would live in brown and blues if he had his way. I used the cutter tool to rough up the edges. I used the mat pack and piercing tool to do the piercing along the bottom. I wanted more to the ribbon so I added the Chateau Bella Rub-ons (the same one I put on my glasses) to the center of the ribbon. I figured since I had randomly stamped the flowers that I should carry that over to the sentiment. Have a great day, off to take the kids to the dentist!

My Glasses

Well, since today we have numerous doctor appointments I thought I would share with you what I have done to my glasses. I have had these for over year now and loved them when I first got them but I started getting bored with them a few month ago. I started by putting some small rub-ons from the last catalog. Of course I have to keep current :) (plus I am rough on them and after a few months they started wearing off) so I decided to go a little bolder. I got so many complements on them. So many people asked me if I got new glasses and how much they liked them. So I thought I would share with you another way to use the rub-ons!

Friends Picture Frame

What a freaky coincidence! Yesterday my daughter had a small birthday party, just a few friends over. I took their picture right away and printed them out. One of the projects I had planned for them was to decorate their own frames. I bought the 8x8 frames at the dollar tree. I gave them the mat and let them decorate them how they wanted to. I saved my daughters because I wanted to do hers up special for her. While they were playing some games I put them in frames and added the pictures. It was one of the gifts they took home with them. So today I wake up and what is the Ways to use it challenge?!?!...to use a picture. So I got to finish her frame today. The bottom corner rub on is done on the glass, but the Forever and ever is on the paper. I love it and plan on doing this every year with the girls. They had a lot of fun and their moms loved the idea. Tomorrow I will show you another project I did with the girls....

Another Case

So today for the color challenge I grabbed the catalog again. I opened to page 108 and thought that the design there would go with the color challenge. The colors today were Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery. I went with the chocolate as the base so I could use the poly -twill again. I used the celery as the bottom as I know I had that in the print pattern paper. I used the cutter kit to get my wave. I do need to practice that but I only had one sheet left of the floral celery and I guess I had too much confidence in myself to get it right the first time... I'm still working on getting the rub-ons down but I know I will order them again! I sponged around the edges of the flowers and the celery paper with chocolate chip. I did not use any stamps for this card at all.

Distressed Butterfly

Ok, when I saw this sketch last night I was a little concerned about how I would make this work. I started by figuring I wanted to use some designer paper. So off to my stash I went. I love the Afternoon Tea paper! I used my Coluzzle to cut my ovals. The scalloped one I just went around the outside edge with the corner rounder (guide removed). I used the mat kit to do the piercing. I pierced 3 and skipped 3 all the way around curving as I went. The outside layer is the same size just without the scallop cut away.

The background was first done with bleach and then I used the Close to Cocoa. I did not want the stamp on the bottom to over power the butterfly so I just used the top of the stamp on the bottom edge. The center butterfly has a rhinestone brad from the Pretties Kit and is popped up with a pop up glue dot that is cut in half. I used the rub-ons on the ribbon (another thing I've wanted try do off my list!). I did do some sponging around the Close to Cocoa Oval to give a little more dimension.

Rub-Ons

So the Ways to Use it Challenge today was to use Rub-ons. I figured for this card I would grab no stamps and just use the rub-ons. My favorite thing to do with them is to put them on buttons. This was a fun and fast card to make.

Paper: Old Olive, More Mustard, whisper White, Really Rust

Buttons and Rub Ons...

Today was the Sketch Challenge on SCS. I really struggled with the up and down layer of this sketch. I have so many new scraps of ribbon I cut for this. They just did not look right. I wanted something that would not take away from the rest of the idea. Then I remembered I had saw on someone else's blog that they had used the rub ons on the clear buttons. I thought this would be perfect for what I had in mind. It would fulfill the sketch and yet not take away or make the card too busy.

Olive Rub-Ons

Well, I guess today was the day I finally used my rub-ons! As you can see I still need some practice. As I was putting the adhesive on the back I rubbed it against something I had on my desk and part of the flower came off. No going back after that! For those who know me, know that I am not a silver person. I love gold, silver and I just do not mix. So I pre-ordered the ribbon slides in bulk just for fun. I thought they were so adorable I just had to buy the whole new Silver Hodge Podge kit! These will be available on March 1st from the Occasions Mini, as will the Olive Poly Twill. I will post a link on that date for those who may not of received it in the mail

Altered Starbucks Bottles

So today I was trying to finish some Christmas presents. These will be going to some very dear friends of mine. It was a funny thing that yesterday while I was out buying these that the Ways to Use It challenge on SCS was to Wrap it up. So I used this for that.

This bottle I used the new SU Rub-ons. They take a little getting used to but I love how it turned out!

This one I etched flowers and hearts in ovals on the glass. It is filled with lots of fun embellishments.

This picture did not turn out as well as I would of liked, but it is so hazy and gloomy out today, it is hard to find a good place to get good light. For those curious; behind it is a tote of gifts I had to wrap today to take to my in-laws.

Stamps: Time Well Spent
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Brocade Background
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: Rub-ons on one bottles, White detail embossing powder, Etching Cream

Have a Very Merry CHRISTmas!!!
