Owl Banner Birthday

Bright and colorful was what I was going for with this card.  Since it was going to be a hand delivered card I wanted to use an embellishment that I do not usually use when i mail a card so I went crazy with the buttons.  My designer paper is retired as I was also trying to use up some of my scraps.  The sentiment was popped up with dimensionals.

Fall Leaves

For the next few months I will be taking the cards I have had saved in draft and putting them up on my Friday's posts.  Things got a bit overwhelming in my household and my good intentions of having posts lined up for when I was off to doctor appointments did not go as planned.  I know some of these sets will already be on my retired list or no longer available.  I hope you can get some inspiration from them for a color, layout  or just something you can use to create a card you can share.  I will do my best to remember all of the things that I used to create the cards, not a guarantee!!!!    ;-)

Wrenches

Today is my #2 son's 21st birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KID!!! He is a mechanic so I though this card would be perfect for him.  I had seen the punch art wrenches before on numerous cards (sorry I do not know where they originated from) So that is where this whole card began.  The background is tin foil adhered to regular printer paper and ran through the Big Shot. I did sponge some Soft Suede on the wrenches to give them the "used" look.  The scoring tool was perfect to make the line down the grip of the wrench.

Accessories: Extra Large Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, Flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Big Shot, Square Lattice Impressions Folder, 5/16" Silver Jumbo Brads

Fly High

As we were sitting down for lunch sometime last week, my son asked me to please  make a card using the fighter jet from the Need for Speed set.  He LOVES that set and I know it will get used, if not just for him and his friends.  I had been re-organizing my work space again and wanted to play with my new Simply Scored Scoring tool.  If you have not put in on your order or at least have it on your wish list from the Holiday Mini, it is a must!  To do the card base I just lined it up and scored 2 lines every inch, turned it and did it again.  I think it makes a great and easy background.  This card took no longer than 30 minutes for me to do from concept to photograph.  I embossed the plane, painted it with re-inkers and Aqua Painter and cut it out (that was the hardest part).  For the sky I ripped a piece of paper and sponged off the edge moving it and flipping it around and then lightly around the edge.  The plane and matted circle are both mounted with dimensions to give a bit more pop.

Details:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Need for Speed, Perfect Punches
Paper: Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight (window), Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Versamark

Poppy Blossoms

I sooo wish I had more time for designing and creating.  I fell in love with these colors when I saw them setting out on my desk and it took me almost 2 weeks to get time to make something with them.  I have loved the flowers I have sen made with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch that I just had to make some myself.  The punch is so easy to use and has such a wide variety.  I cannot wait until life slows down a bunch, I have some great ideas I want to try.  Of course all of the edges are sponged to add more dimension and the flowers are popped up with Dimensionals.

Glimmer Butterflies

I needed a wow card that used some of the new and some of the old.  I wanted it to shimmer and sparkle with lots of texture and dimension.  The whole card is sprayed with Shimmer Paint/Rubbing Alcohol Mixture. To do the sentiment I stamped the stamp in the Wisteria Wonder and used the Eggplant Envy Marker to go over the word.

Altered CD Case

My daughter wanted so badly for her friends to have these as a thank you gift for coming to her 9th birthday party.  I had ordered some of the Clear Mount Stamp Cases (4 for $4.95).  We measured the lining, scored the folds and started decorating.

She loves to sponge edges as much as I do so she had very pretty finger tips when she was done.  To do the Crown we stamped and embossed first.  We then masked the crown with another crown that I had stamped and cut out on a piece of scratch paper.  So when we stamped the "My Friend" it looked like it was behind the crown.  The butterfly was sprayed with the shimmer paint/rubbing alcohol mixture to give it just a bit of glimmer.

The inside we decided to put a post-it note pad, pen held on with a cable clip and a pack of gum stuck on with glue dots, all she thought we needed to add was a stick of lip balm...but we do not have any stores within a 30 min drive so she got what I had on hand. ;-)  (Her friends loved them anyway!)

Oval Birthday

Once again I saw this concept on another blog but I did not bookmark it so I cannot point you back to it.  If it is yours or if you know where it came from please let me know so that I may edit and give proper credit.  I do believe the original card is pink and brown.  I punched out various ovals and circles and adhered them to the card.  I then ran the whole base through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Folder.

Lattice Birthday

Wow, this was one I did a while back and it must of been missed.  I loved the Lattice Impression folder when I first saw it, ok I love all of the Impression Folders.  Since it was on back order for soooo long I got to see many cards done with it with I was (not so) patiently waiting.  I saw quite a few that i liked when they impressed the whole card, even the image.  That is the look I was going for here.  I needed a card for a teen boy so I could not use flowers or pretty things :(

Birthday Bag

I usually do not use my hostess sets that I earn but this one is just what I needed.  I needed a quick easy birthday card so I jumped on over to the Sketch challenge.  Even though it was not an easy sketch I just could not turn away the challenge.  So off I went to try and figure out how I wanted this to go.  after I had chosen my colors I knew I wanted to use my new Concord Crush ribbon so I thought to bring it all together I should do my layering in Whisper White. I offset the layers and pushed it all to one side.  The card base is slightly smaller than a regular card to compensate for the hanger over.  That way it will still fit in an envelope.  I colored the image with the markers (which I am not very good at) So this card and gift are ready to go out the door with me.

Card Details:
Stamps: Perfect Punches, Birthday Bakery
Paper: Early Espresso, Whisper White, Concord Crush
Ink: Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Concord Crush

Happy Birthday Katie

I cannot believe my grand-daughter will turn one year old tomorrow.  I just had to make her a very very special card to celebrate.  I found this card at Jackie Topa's Blog (she is amazing!)

For the front I decided I wanted to go with a vintage look since I had done so much sponging on the inside.  I ran my inked brayer over the impression folder and then ran it all through the Big Shot.  I then, of course, sponged around all of the edges. My 8 yr old daughter wanted me to add lots of pearls but I decided to use just one to dot the i in Birthday.  I colored the sentiment stamp with the markers before stamping on the card stock.

So this card actually fold pretty flat.  I have sent cards out for Christmas that did not need extra postage so I ma not so sure this one would have.  Of course it went in a box via UPS filled with lots of birthday goodies.

The Amoire was so fun to do since a great Aunt had given her one not too long ago as a gift.

I did not do a side step like Jackie had in her original card since I wanted it all to fold up.  So with mine the base folds up to put away and pops down to stay open.  I used the half pearls as knobs.

Ok, do not do this card when you are in a hurry or when your kids decide it is "question day"  I had both bears all done and then I realized that I had not done one in mirror image....duh!  so thankfully card stock has two sides and I just flipped it all around.  I did not have the die that she used for her oval scalloped mirror so I used my large scallop circle and my circle scissor to make my mirror.

Well, I hope she enjoys the bears that Grandma made her for her birthday and another great big thank you to Jackie for all of the wonderful inspiration on her blog!
