Birthday Balloons

So as I was blurfing (blog surfing) the other day I ran across Patty Bennets blog.  She had a post on making balloons with the small oval punch and the feet of the owl from the owl punch.  I had been wishing for a balloon punch for sooo long.  Why didn't I think if this?!?!?!?  I sponged around the edges of the oval and used the Chalk Marker to add a bit more dimension.  The Chalk Marker is in the Holiday catalog and is wonderful!!

Aged Candle

So SU Demos get a magazine a few times a year and in the magazine they feature a Demo.  I think this one was in the June/July issue.  I loved the colors and the designs. It took me a few months to get around to CASEing (Copy and Steal Everything) the cards.  I had to make a few changes to make it work with what I had.  It was CASEd from Jenny Peterson.

I think I sponged Crumb Cake around every edge of every thing on this card.

Clay Flower Dress

So I am obeying the Neurologists and letting my brain heal.  I was told to do lots of things with dexterity and things I enjoy so what is better than stamping!  I am not sure why the image of the sketch is so small but you can see it at Splitcoast if you want to stop by and give it a shot.  I have been playing a lot with the molds and clay lately and this is another of the things I have wanted to do with the flowers.  It is much prettier in person as the Dazzling Diamonds in the clay just does not photograph very well.

This is a go to set for me when it comes to masculine cards, and most of the men in my family loves wildlife so it fits them too. To do the leaves I just stamped them in the lighter colors and used a marker to outline and put a few spots in the center, very simple yet gives a great effect.

Birthday Candles

I have seen these candles made from the wings of the Build a Bird punch and today I took the time to try it.   To do the candle base I cut scored them with the Simply Scorer at an angle and then cut them in strips.  The pear ones I put the score lines up and the poppy ones I put the score lines down.  I sponged around the edges.  The sentiment has 3 glue dots one on each and and one in the center.  I added a wave to give it dimension.  The flames are popped up in Dimensionals.

Stamps: Bring on the Cake
Paper: Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzaz, Peach Parfait, Very Vanilla

Fall Leaves

I know it is not fall yet, but the morning seems cool enough that the leaves will be changing soon.  I was in need of another masculine Birthday card and today's sketch was the perfect avenue to jump start this card.  the leaves were first stamped in the Cajun Craze and then outlined with the Early Espresso marker before putting it to the paper.  I also sponged around the edges after I cut them out.  They are adhered with glue dots. The designer paper had the trim all the way around the 12 x12 paper.Once I cut it down it only had the edge on 2 sides.  So I used the marker to doodle some lines an did some more sponging to blend it all in.  I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to do the double lines around the edge on the card base.  It needed something simple and it did the trick.  The Happy Birthday was in the middle of the Cake on the stamp.  I just used the marker to ink what I wanted to use.

Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Well Worn DSP
Ink: Cajun Craze, Early Espresso

Sweet Sweet Birthday

Since summer life is slowing down and time for starting school is drawing close I decided I can take some time a few days a week and make a card. So today I made the time to do the Sketch challenge.  I knew before I started that I wanted to use the designer brads in the center of the flower punch. When I was dusting my poor ignored stuff yesterday I saw the Tag Punch Die and so when I saw the sketch for today I knew I could incorporate that in to the card.  I think the top  looks like the wind is blowing around the pinwheel...lol. To do the pin wheel I stamped and cut out the dotted and solid and then offset layered them.  For the border across I wanted it to be Espresso but it needed some design, so I ran it through the Big shot with am impression folder and then layered it on a flat piece and it was the exact effect that I wanted.  I figured since I was going for  a breezy calming effect that a banner for the sentiment would fit the layout great.

Details:

Stamps: Sweet for the Sweets, Bring on the Cake
Paper: Early Espresso, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Pocketful of Posies DSP
Ink: Wisteria Wonder
Accessories: Big Shot, Two Tags Die, Basic Rhinestones, Perfect Polka Dot Impression Folder, 1/2" Circle Punch, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Designer Printer Brad

Crowns

Wow, I got more time to make another card this week!  Forgive my photography but I cheated and took the picture with my phone...too lazy to get the big camera out.  When I saw the sketch this morning I knew I just had to do it.  So every spare minute I had between correcting, teaching and running the kids to music lessons I worked on it.  I knew I wanted to use the Concord Crush because my daughter has been asking me to use the ribbon for a very long time. To find the colors to go with it I used the Color Coach and i love the colors that they suggested.  This was a very simple card.  No sponging or fancy cutting just a couple of impression folders and crisp stamps.  What are crowns without a little bling?  These crowns where just crying to have rhinestones put on them so I also used them to dot the i's.  I trimmed every thing with white for two reasons. 1.) to make the ribbon match better and 2.) to make the colors cheerier.  I am seeing great possibilities for this set!

Card Details:
Stamps: Artistic Etchings, Bring on the Cake
Paper: Peach Parfait, Pear Pizazz, Concord Crush, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Peach Parfait, Pear Pizazz, Concord Crush, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White

Rainbow Birthday Cake

My 8 year old Daughter needed a birthday card for a friend. She wanted it to be bright and very colorful.  She gabbed the new Color Coach and found the color she wanted dominate on the card.  He color was Melon Mambo.  She flipped over the card and it says to use Daffodil Delight, Pretty in Pink, and Tempting Turquoise as the go to colors.  So she go them all our for me and said "These are what I would like you to use Mom..." So I went to work.

Lucky for her I had just gotten my Sale-a-bration order in and was looking forward to working with some new things.  I have admired the new Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Die.  I just had to put it on my first order and of course I had to use it on my first card.  The vellum adhesive is under the ribbon and the cake that way it is held on but not able to be seen.

She wanted lots of hardware and bling and I think she had gone through the whole catalog and picked everything out.  I let her pick out one piece for the Hardware kit and then she had to choose between the pearls or the rhinestones.  We added the small rhinestones on every other scallop on the cake stand, one in each top corner of the vellum and one large one in the center of the ribbon slide. The ribbon is two pieces, one is wrapped around the top layer and the other is tied and and the pulled through the ribbon slide.

Card Details:
Stamps: Bring On the Cake
Paper: Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Confetti White, Vellum Paper
Ink:Chocolate Chip, Markers-Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight
