Heritage Room

We just had an open house for our son's graduation in June. It gave me the opportunity to do some painting and decorating that I have wanted to do for some time. This is a portion of our family room, which I now call our heritage room. The pictures and words go all the way around the room. I chose the colors from my favorite color family. I actually took my card stock to the paint store and used the machine to match them perfectly. They are More Mustard, Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip. My kids and husband thought I was crazy when I showed them the colors, but now that it is done they love it. I have gathered pictures from my parents and my husband's parents. The newest are pictures of our parents as young children with their siblings and the oldest I have is of my great-great-great grandparents and children. They are all either printed in black and white or vintage. I so enjoy sitting in this room and looking back at where we came from. After the word got out everyone had to make a stop and take a look before leaving.the open house. It will be a very cherished room in our house for years to come. I used the Big Shot, Chocolate Vinyl Sheets and Serif Essentials Alphabet.

Bedroom

Well, it took me a few weeks to get my bedroom done. I had a whole other plan but am very pleased with how it turned out. I used the Kind Thoughts Brocade Small Décor Stencils. I used a shade lighter mixed with gold for the first time stenciling. After they had dried I went over spontaneously with just straight gold. So they are a dual color. I have a gold and black bed set. I love the way it turned out and how easy it was to use.

Decor Elements

Yesterday my pre-order box came in and it was all I could do to leave it alone. I checked it all in at lunch when it arrived. I spent yesterday in bed with no energy. I woke up with a smashing migraine. So about 4:30 the meds had kicked in and I had to get up. Well, I just could not leave these alone. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them the second I saw it. I had made the clock a few months ago when I had redone the bathroom. I guess this just goes to show how easy they are to use. I was exhausted and my mind is still kind of cloudy and my family loves how it turned out (much better than the picture...). I need to order more to go on the darker green section around the toilet. If you want to see the brochure for the Decor Elements, click here. They are a much better bargain than I had thought at first and I know I will be ordering more!
