In Color Dino

I wanted to use the In Colors Today. I always get them when they come out but do not want to run out so I do not use them as often. I told myself this year was going to be different....so I am going to use them up before they retire in July. I plan on using this card for a class. The technique will be masking. This is a perfect set for this technique. I sponged around the edge of the pacific point.

Garden Dinos

Today I got to stamp! I hope you all got to spend wonderful times with your friends and family!

I went back and grabbed a sketch that I did not have a chance to do. When I decided in my mind what I wanted I did not think about how hard it would be to cut around the dinos. There is really nothing complicated about this card, but if I did happen to over look something you do not understand feel free to leave a question in the comments or send me an e-mail.

Easy Boys Cards

I had a friend from church contact me about having her 3 boys (ages 6, 11 & 13) come over to make Thank you cards. I designed 3 very simple ones that they would be making by themselves. So these are the ones I came up with. I tried to keep it to 2 colors with a neutral, one stamp set each and one ink pad each. She wanted to keep the cost to a minimal so I left out the embellishments. My little kids always try to do the "wow" cards and get carried away. I wish sometimes they would take a step back to just do the simple.

edited to add: I was not happy with the first one so I took a redo and used the photo corner punch.

T-Rex Thank You

So for today's card I went and randomly grabbed a Sketch challenge number. Since I had 2 sons have birthday's last week I have lots of Thank you cards to make. This is the first card in a very long time that I am happy with. When I went to layer the pterodactyl the circle punch I grabbed was too big. So I decided to trim it down by running it through the Big Shot, nope I could not go a day without using it.... I am loving the new In Colors, especially the Kiwi Kiss and the Tangerine Tango. No, I did not step out and use a non-Stampin' Up product to do the Scallop Rectangles. I've seen people attaching a few of the squares together and making the size they wanted so I decided to do this. Each of the dino rectangles are 2" x 3" so I ened up using 6 Scallop squares for each. Boy did my Stamp-a-ma-jig come in handy for this card!

I never have enough kids cards and plenty of kids to send cards to so that was my reason for today's card. Plus I really need to finish another design for my workshop next week. I kept it pretty simple but wanted it bright and bold.

Dino for Dylan

Well, today I wanted to play with another of my new sets, Prehistoric Pals. I bought this set mainly because our Vacation Bible School is next week and I am teaching the 4-5K class, I thought this set would be a fun way to decorate the kid's bags and the classroom. Our theme this year is dinos. One of my students will be having a birthday next week so I thought I would get a jump start and get his card made today while I still have the time. My schedule for the rest of the week is pretty hectic so I will probably not post until next week, depending on how VBS goes ;).

So I decided to check out the sketch challenge for the day. It turned out to be perfect to use this set. Just to show that I make mistakes and learn how to fix them. When I went to stamp the simple Happy Birthday in the lower right corner it was crooked. So I decided to add a couple more crooked ones to make it look like it was done on purpose...sneaky!

I could not figure out what I wanted on the second back panel and I thought another image would be too much. So I did the dry embossing like I had mentioned last week. I actually ordered a dry embossing template last week and may be doing more of that.

Well, I hope you all have a great Holiday weekend!
