Merry Christmas 2009

Merry Christmas! I hope you are able to spend this day with loved ones. Today I want to share with you the card I sent out this year. I took the idea for the inside from the Catalog this year on page 31.  When I think of the word JOY I think of a song we used to sing in Sunday School as a child.  It was "Jesus, and others, and You what a wonderful way to spell JOY.  Jesus & others and you in the life of each girl and each boy. J is for Jesus for He has first place, O is for others we meet face to face. Y is for you in whatever you do.  Put yourself 3rd and spell. JOY."  So that is where I took the concept from the catalog.  I hope you have the JOY I sing about this Christmas in your life.

I had my family cranking away on the Big Shot this year.  My poor  Merry Deatils Sizzlits Die must have gone through over 1000 times.  It does look pretty rough but still works great. I know after making 100 of these, next years cards may end up being very very simple. ;)  I ran the 12" X 5.5" piece through the printer to get everything I wanted on the 4th panel first. Then I put my top border on and scored and folded.  I went through a few bottles of Tombow Multipurpose glue. ;)

Joy

Here is the second side of the blocks I have been working on. The thing that brings the most joy in my life is Jesus. So I thought it fitting for this image to be included to finish of this side. The backing of the J was ran through an embossing folder and then I sponged some Very Vanilla Craft ink over the tops of the poinsettias. The manger scene is embossed and the star is on half of a dimensional. I sponged around the edges of the flowers. I actually had a green thumb, and the only way I could get one... The berries on the holly were punched out by the crop-a-dile (gotta use what I've got :) )

Suede Christmas

For this card I used a few elements that I have seen in different cards and combine them here. I appreciate all of the different Stampin' Up! blogs out there right now that we can gather so many great ideas from. This is one of the cards that we will be doing at our Ladies night out in a couple of weeks. I struggle with the use of the Jumbo Grommets even though I think they are a great embellishment. I think this is a great way to use them. I have started keeping a spritz bottle of Rubbing Alcohol on my shelf. It works great to spray the texture plates with to give them just a little more depth. Don't faint but this card has NO sponging on it....

Peru Christmas Card

Reminder to post something on the MDS Blog Candy Post to win a free SUO MDS Blog Background.

Our Home Educator's group chooses a mission to donate to every year for Christmas. Since this years package is headed to a mission orphanage in Peru later this week we had to get going on it. Each family was also suppose to make a hand made card to send with our gifts. So here is the card coming from our family. I was stumped on what to put behind the manger image but knew I wanted something there. I ended up punching the same size circle, cutting it in half and spreading it to each side a bit, The image is embossed. I have not embossed for a very very very long time. The card fave was stamped with En Francias and the Medallion, I stamped the first one with full ink and in the opposite corner I stamped right again without inking again. I also sponged around the outside edges of everything but the Real Red. I ordered a light tent yesterday since the sun may not show itself again until May. I hope it will make my cards look more real to life.

Christmas Card

Here the month of January is almost done. I just now realized that I never showed you the Christmas card I made for last year. I took the idea from the catalog. I really wanted to use a color scheme that was not traditional colors. Let's see if I can remember...I cut the cards stock 12" x 5.5". I scored every 4". I wheeled the background before I scored. In order to make the ribbon I found a loose thread and pulled until gathered. My finger still hurts from my thumb nail digging in ;). The images are layered differently. Over all it was a very simple card to do. My Stamp-a-ma-jig was very handy in the making of this card. Before I did any rolling, scoring or stamping. I ran the cut card stock through the printer with the color set to match the SU Chocolate Chip and printed the signature part.

Paper: More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Tango Tangerine, Very Vanilla,

Artichoke Christmas

I will be at the hospital must of the day. So I decided to pre-post a card that I had done a while back. I like to make easy Christmas cards to give to others who may not have any to send out. This one I thought would be an easy one to do. I do not believe in having halos so I cut them off of the stamp set. I shadowed the words by stamping in 2 colors and using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to offset one. I hope you all have a great weekend and I hope to be back stamping next week (depending on how much husband sitting I will be doing...)!

Wisemen Sketch

Well, it is getting cold but not enough to think about Christmas...I saw the Sketch challenge this morning and thought this set was just perfect to fit it. I did lots and lots of sponging around almost every side. I have seen the ribbon done this way before and have never gotten around to trying it. It was soo easy. You just find a center thread and keep pulling until you get the gathering you want. Wednesdays are my busiest day of the week, but I just had to take time to do the challenge and share it with you!

Stamps: So Swirly Jumbo Wheel, Season of Simple Grace, Holiday & Wishes
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Very Vanilla, Haiku
Ink: Very Vanilla Craft, More Mustard, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon
