Punched Vellum Scallop

Well, I had to step back to a challenge posted yesterday on the Demo Challenge on SCS. I joined a SU only blog roll. It can be found on my About me page. I love seeing other blogs that use SU product only! I saw that some were posting cards made with vellum and that they had done them with this challenge in mind. So I had to go back and catch this challenge today. I had to throw this together fairly fast as I have to run and get groceries today and the kids are waiting on me. So this probably took longer to upload than make.

Rusty Guava

Yoyo Birthday

Sorry about no posting yesterday. My closet was just calling my name to re-organize. I am a shoe lover and right now I have more pairs of shoes than I do stamps... It had gotten to the point where I could not find half of them because they were all in different places. So I spent the day on that. Now one glance and I can see them all in one place! It was hard putting off stamping for the day, but I love a clean closet!

So today's Challenge on SCS was the Color Challenge. The colors today were Going Grey, Basic Grey and Yoyo Yellow. The first thing that came to my mind was ducks. Since I do not have a duck stamp at this time I decided to go with birds. I thought the elephant would look cute with them.

Stamps: Wild About You, It's Your Birthday, Sanded Background
Paper: Basic Grey, Yoyo Yellow, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Grey, Yoyo Yellow, Garden Green (stem), Choclate Chip (bird legs)
Accessories: Yoyo Yellow Eyelets, Basic Grey Taffeta Ribbon

Celebrate Matey

So the challenge today on SCS was the Limited Supplies Challenge. The challenge was to use your scraps. I did not cut any full pieces of card stock at all. Everything came from my scrap folders. The images were given to me by a friend as a RAK (random act of kindness). So are these even considered scraps? I colored the images with my re-inkers and aqua pen. I stamped the Word Search background on the Brilliant Blue and the Bashful Blue scraps. I love it that I can now punch out any word I need from the Word Search Background. Why have I not thought of that before?!?!?
Stamps: Word Search Background, Ahoy Matey
Paper: Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White, Only Orange, More Mustard, Rose Red, Garden Green

One Layer card

So today my thought was to do a one layer card. I first stamped the boat. I then masked off the area around the boat. I used my brayer and brayered soft sky over the boat. I moved the mask a bit out and put a mask over the soft sky/boat area. I then brayered over the edge with blue bayou. I then punched the small and large oval in a piece of scratch post it pad. I used the punched out area and brayered the soft sky again. I then stamped the Wish Big. I put the small oval over the area with temp adhesive and used the punched out area of the large oval to make my next layer. I brayered over with the blue bayou. I showed my son and he said it needed some ribbon, so I added ribbon.
Stamps: Winds of Grace, Short & Sweet
Paper: Whisper White
Ink: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky
Accessories: Blue Bayou & Soft Sky Double Stitched Ribbon, Brayer

Wild About Baby

I love today's sketch for the Sketch challenge. I needed a card for our new niece and this sketch was perfect for it. I hope it was ok that I turned the sentiment at an angle. I did the faux blanket stitch on the top and bottom of the back panel. I had originally intended to add ribbon but when I put it together I thought it did not need anymore. I used my hobby knife to cut the elephant's trunk and the giraffe's mouth to insert the banner.

Stamps: Wild About You, Print Pattern BG, Short & Sweet
Paper: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Whisper White
Ink: Perfect Plum, Basic Gray, More Mustard, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, Pale Plum
Accessories: White Gel Pen, Tool kit for piercing

Pieced Stars

So today was the color challenge. The colors were Soft Sky, Blue Bayou and Real Red. I am always short of Birthday cards especially ones that can be used for kids or men so that was the direction I was headed this morning. I decided I wanted to punch the stars and piece DSP behind them. The first DSP I grabbed had dots so I went the "dotted" way and decided everything would be dotted. I used my Hot to Dot wheel, which I must of missed on my retired list as it did not get pulled from my shelf... I punched out the stars and put the paper behind. I pierced the large star and added my layers.

Close-up

Stamps: Dotted Background, Hot to Dot Wheel, Short and Sweet
Paper: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Real Red, Soft Sky Prints DSP
Ink: White Craft, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky

Catalog Case 114

So today I decided just to open the catalog and Case (Copy and Steal Everything) the first card I saw. The catalog opened to page 114. Thankfully I had that set so I could be closer. I did change the colors and a few small elements. I do not have a lot of buttons so I replaced it with the build a brads. It is hard to tell but I used So Saffron Craft ink and stamps the flowers on the night of navy in the build a brad.
Stamps: All in a Row
Paper: Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, So Saffron, Cameo Coral
Ink: So Saffron Craft, Night of Navy, Cameo Coral

Bleached Bronco

Today for the Limited Supplies Challenge the challenge was to use a background stamp. It seems the trend is going away from background and more are using designer paper. I think it is the quick and easy thought. I do love my backgrounds. One of my favorite things to do is use them with bleach. With this one I did not choose my second color until after the bleach has set. You never know what color may come through.

So here was our limitations:
Stamps:
1 or 2 background stamps, a main image set, sentiment optional

Paper & Ink: 2 colors plus a neutral

Tools: anything quick (no Cuttlebug)

Embellishments: any kind (keep it simple)

What I used:
Stamps: Bronc Buster, Short & Sweet
Paper: Sahara Sand, Blue Bayou
Ink: Blue Bayou, Bleach
Accessories: Blue Bayou Double Stitched Ribbon,Small Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch

Wish Big

So today I got up and thought "I want to emboss today." I had not embossed anything in a while and went to check out today's challenge on SCS. I about fell over when I read that the Ways to Use It challenge was to use embossing powder....My daughter got an invite for a party last night so I thought I would get the card made. She tried to help....that is why some of the flowers are not centered. She is only 5 so I guess all is well! I went a lot of different embossing ways before coming to this. So I have a few images set aside to use on more cards later. I love making a springy card today as it has been snowing since last night. We are suppose to get another 7" by tomorrow morning, then my mother told me we are suppose to get hit again this weekend.... spring is coming, spring is coming, spring is coming! I am not a big Tempting Turquoise or Taken with Teal user but this Designer Paper and the Mellow Moss added really makes me love this combo!

Card details to be posted soon.

Celebrate in Every Way

Ok, I had time and I could not wait to do the Sketch challenge for today. I had this idea ever since I saw the new My Way punch. I've been trying to think of ways to use my Word Search background stamp more and I think I just figured out how I can live without my retired Alphabits set!

Ink: Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard, Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain, Apricot Appeal and More Mustard Grosgrain, My Way Punch, 1/4" Circle Punch, Tool kit for Piercing

Pumpkin...

So my order came in yesterday. As I had said I limited myself so I can save the bulk of my order for February to get some Sale-a-bration sets. I did have to get some of the new striped ribbon and chose one color. This will be a must on my next order to get some more. I do love the new Celebrate Everything set and I think I have already got my money's worth out of it. I also finally broke down and bought the build a brads. They will now be a staple in my supplies. I had to get some of the new designer paper. I chose the Bali Breeze because I thought it could be used for both masculine and feminine cards. I know today is the sketch challenge but I have a group of boys coming over after band this afternoon to goof around and I have things I need to get done. This is a card I put together yesterday after my order arrived. I will try to get to the sketch challenge later today and hopefully get it posted tomorrow.

Scallop Punch

Boy did I have troubles with the Color Challenge today. I am just in a slump. I was sick yesterday and I guess my brain is still in a slump. I did this card twice and did not like the first one (see bottom of post) so I took it apart and re-did it. Now I think I liked the first one better. I guess I should just take some more meds and go back to bed....My new catalog order will be coming in today so I will have new toys to play with tomorrow. I did not order much as I am saving for February Sale-a-bration. Maybe fresh stuff will get me going again.

This is the one I re-did....should I have just left it? I only re-did the side top layer. The inside is exactly the same.

Cameo Lighthouse

This card was made today for the Limited Supplies challenge on SCS. You were suppose to use 2 colors from within the same color family, no more than 2 embellishments and limited tools. I think I stayed within the limits very well. I just went to my card stock shelf and grabbed to colors next to each other. I had the small Cameo strip left over from trimming the card front and decided to use it as a layer. I then saw the Ruby Star already punched and stuck to my shelf front. I had made it last week when I made my Punched Star card. I changed colors on my other card and never used it. So I used it (and made a friend) on this card.

Stamps: Winds of Grace
Paper: Cameo Coral, Ruby Red
Ink: Ruby Red
Accessories: Large and small star punch

Celebrate Ryan

So today I needed to make a card for a birthday party my 8 yr old was invited to. I cannot wait until I am able to order the set Full Calendar. They temporarily pulled it from the book to correct the month of May. They said the font did not match. I would of taken it any way! Oh well, it will be available soon enough! I thought this turned out fun for a 8 yr old boy. I used my Bold Brights too! The circle of bugs column is perforated with the cutter kit. It can be taken off and used as a bookmark.

Kick Stand Card

Today was the Sketch Challenge on SCS. This type of card is called a Kickstand card. I actually made the "Kickstand" before I figured out the rest of the card. I still have not weeded out all of my retired sets and so I had to double check. Is it too busy? The cupcake in the upper right hand corner is embossed and colored with the markers. The Kickstand is suppose to be a clipboard.

Wild Alligator

So today was the color challenge on SCS. I had my Label punch out to make card sample rings and so I just had to use it. The colors of the challenge Wild Wasabi, Barely Banana and Blue Bayou. The first thing that came to mind with those colors was the alligator and the bird. So that is the direct that it went.

Clipboard

Today I had an order for a clipboard for someone's Secret Sister. I modge podge over it so it was hard to get a good picture. The top half is to insert a picture into and the bottom half is a post it pad. Her colors where brown and green so this DSP was a perfect fit.

Punched Star

Boy, the color did not photograph well with this one. I may have to try and get another picture later. This was done for the Limited Supplies Challenge. The Challenge was to not to use any white or vanilla shades of card stock. I have had this idea for a while and decided to do it today. I just punched the various stars, laid them out and glued them down.

Flowers

So I had to run errands out of town this morning. I got up early hoping that the challenge would be posted with enough time to get a card made and posted. That did not happen. So I got home, put the groceries away, helped my daughter make supper (boy, do I appreciate her, 5 yrs old and already loves to cook!) and checked out today's Ways to Use it Challenge. The challenge was to use flowers in any way shape or form. I had colored these pretties a long time ago but could never find a card they looked good on. So I put them together and put them all on one card. I am not sure what the middle one is. I do know the out side is Blue Bayou and the small one is Groovy Guava. I think the middle one may be Apricot Appeal. What do you think? For the sentiment I started by punching the 2 small ovals and then decided it needed the Blue Bayou behind it. The large oval was too big to fit so I took my slit punch and stuck the large oval through it and put the small oval on top.
Stamps: Celebrate Everything
Paper: Blue Bayou, Groovy Guava, Fall Flowers DSP
Ink: Blue Bayou
Accessories: Pretties Flowers, Rhinestone brad, Small and large Oval punch, Designer Label Punch, Slit Punch, Tool kit for Piercing, Groovy Guava Double Stitched Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch

Celebrate Friendship

Sorry, I have had family here for the last couple of days and have not had much computer or stamping time. This card was done for today's Sketch Challenge on SCS. I had to drop the front layers a bit to fit the word Celebrate on it. I think it still qualifies ;). This will go to one of my dear friends as a Thank you for some special things she has done for me. I used the designer paper behind the button to give it a design.

Stamps: Celebrate Everything, Baroque Motifs, All in a Row
Paper: Basic Gray, Old Olive, Soft Sky. Whisper White, Fall Flowers DSP
