Heritage Room

We just had an open house for our son's graduation in June. It gave me the opportunity to do some painting and decorating that I have wanted to do for some time. This is a portion of our family room, which I now call our heritage room. The pictures and words go all the way around the room. I chose the colors from my favorite color family. I actually took my card stock to the paint store and used the machine to match them perfectly. They are More Mustard, Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip. My kids and husband thought I was crazy when I showed them the colors, but now that it is done they love it. I have gathered pictures from my parents and my husband's parents. The newest are pictures of our parents as young children with their siblings and the oldest I have is of my great-great-great grandparents and children. They are all either printed in black and white or vintage. I so enjoy sitting in this room and looking back at where we came from. After the word got out everyone had to make a stop and take a look before leaving.the open house. It will be a very cherished room in our house for years to come. I used the Big Shot, Chocolate Vinyl Sheets and Serif Essentials Alphabet.

Stamps:None
Paper: Chocolate Chip Vinyl

Shortly after I posted this post my son called and told us that our grandchild was going to arrive today. So I proudly announce the arrival of Katie Lynn Rippentrop 9 lbs 20" long.

Teal Butterflies

Once again I chose to use these colors. Actually this one was made before the other one, but I have so many appointments lately that it got put off for posting...

I saw that someone, forgive me for not looking into the original user, had turned the grass from the Inspired by Nature set and turned them into cat tails. I loved that idea and thought it was a great way to bring more brown into this card. It actually was an after thought and I had to re-take the picture before posting it.

Stamps: En Francias Background, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Inspired by Nature
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Taken with Teal, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Big Shot, Finial Press Textured Impressions Folder, Wide Oval Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Beautiful Butterflies Die, Horizontal Slot Punch, Large Dots Texturz Plate, Whisper White Organza Ribbon

Laptop

So I spend so much time with my laptop that I decided it needed a little sprucing up. I had added the pink camo skin about a year or so ago. When I first saw these white Upsy Daisey Decor Elements I thought they would be perfect. I have a 17" laptop and the flowers come in 13" x 13". I just had to cut just a bit of the stems off. I get so many complements on it. The teen girls in my Digital Yearbook class love it! (even the guys think it is cool:) )

Butterflies

I missed a friend's birthday so I wanted to make her a very special card. Since I had just purchased the butterfly die and the Inspired by Nature Set I just had to use them. I have definitely gotten my money's worth out of by big shot. Stampin' Up had perfect timing with that. Since my hands are not are not as steady as I would like them to be I do so much more with dies and so I am still able to create cards. I bought a new pocket camera, since I have to have a camera with me and it is not always possible to carry my big one. Well, I guess I need to monkey with it's use since this turned out so drab....it is so much brighter and crisper IRL.

Stamps: Inspired by Nature, En Francias Background, Short & Sweet
Paper: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White (not sure the DSP name)
Ink: Old Olive, Rose Red
Accessories: Big Shot, Butterflies Die, Top Note Die, Large Oval, Small Oval

Sketch Butterflies

Well I took today's Sketch challenge and turned it on it's side. I am so loving this butterfly Die for the Big Shot. These are not colors I would usually use. I had a teen girl over the other day to work on a 4Hproject for the fair. She requested the Regal Rose and the Taken Teal. I thought odd but when I suggested we add a base color and we decided that Chocolate Chip looked best I loved the combo and have used it a few times this last week. So you will be seeing more of this color combo and of course the Butterfly Die. I told the girl's mother that I would love a picture of her project, when she finishes it, to put on my blog. So far I think it is turning out wonderful and I hope she does well at the fair!

I just had to order all of the Textured Impressions Embossing Folders and the Texturz Plates when the new catalog came out. I used to be addicted to background stamps but now I have very few of them left and love the textured look!

This card was fun to make. If it wasn't for my unsteady coloring I would love it. I did not even realize that the double circle punch retired until I posted this card (boo hoo) I love it to make faux brads. It might be one I have to hold on to for a while...

Star Wishes

Ok, so this idea came once again from the Stamp and Smile Blog. I loved the idea of the bottom of the card. I took the Top Note die and instead of putting the card stock on the long way I put it on the short way. Than I only ran it through the Big Shot just far enough so that it cut just the first edge. I am so glad I ran across this card for this concept alone! It is hard to see but I have a textured pattern behind the star. The trim of the circle was just done with 2 circle punches. I found it easiest to punch the smaller punch first. I sponged around the edges of all of the print pattern papers with Chocolate Chip ink. I love the larger brads and I know I wil be buying new ones soon!
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Print Patterns-Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive

This case was made for my sister's birthday last week. I used the retired In Colors (which were actually not retired at the time I made the card...). I cut out the 3 of each Daisey with the Big Shot and sponged around the edges. I loves that the Happy Birthday fit perfect in the Small tag Punch aso that I could layer it with the Large Tag Punch.

Lots of Bots

Well, the new catalog is out. This is one of the sets that I bought when the Demos had a chance to pre-order. I thought it would make great kids cards. Being that my hands are not as steady as they use to water coloring does not turn out very well...as you will see in my next card. So I found this card by Kreations by Kris where she had used paper piecing to add the color to the robot. I once again had to use retired paper because I have not had the chance to order any new paper as of yet. I also love all of the piercing. It really makes the card! I just had to use some of the new In Colors.
Stamps: Lots of Bots
Paper: Dusty Durango, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Preswick Paper (retired)
