Monkey Thanksgiving

So I took the time today to do the Sketch challenge on SCS. I had fun stepping into my fall themes, which is my favorite. I have been wanting to do this little monkey holding a gourd so today was my chance. I sponged around the edge of the card base, top note die, and around the square behind the monkey. The images are colored with re-inkers and an aqua-painter....off to run my son to band!

This card was fun to make. If it wasn't for my unsteady coloring I would love it. I did not even realize that the double circle punch retired until I posted this card (boo hoo) I love it to make faux brads. It might be one I have to hold on to for a while...

Christmas Card

Here the month of January is almost done. I just now realized that I never showed you the Christmas card I made for last year. I took the idea from the catalog. I really wanted to use a color scheme that was not traditional colors. Let's see if I can remember...I cut the cards stock 12" x 5.5". I scored every 4". I wheeled the background before I scored. In order to make the ribbon I found a loose thread and pulled until gathered. My finger still hurts from my thumb nail digging in ;). The images are layered differently. Over all it was a very simple card to do. My Stamp-a-ma-jig was very handy in the making of this card. Before I did any rolling, scoring or stamping. I ran the cut card stock through the printer with the color set to match the SU Chocolate Chip and printed the signature part.

Fall Friend #3

Today I used the Sketch challenge to finish my Fall Friends cards. It is dark and wet fall day so the colors I chose matched the lack of brightness outside ;). I tried using the same sets for all 3 of my cards. This was a fun sketch to do and a fun set of cards to make! I used the Aqua Painter and re-inkers to color.

Thanksgiving Turkey

Today's Limited Use Challenge was to disguise a stamp or use it for something other than it was intended. So I took my petal stamp and used it as feathers for my colorful turkey. Doesn't he look sad? I think next week I will have to challenge myself to stay away from the Earth Elements family and maybe go at least one layer without sponging....don't think I will make it. Well, this was a fun card to do and I am looking forward to sending it to the party I made it for. I have so many family members and can only be one place for Thanksgiving. Oh and I did manage to use Cameo Coral (pink) in one of the feathers!!

Get Well Monkey

So today I needed to make a Get Well card for a young lady who had surgery on her ankle. She is not a "girly girl" so I thought the Sock Monkey would be a good choice of sets. I decided to make a cast for the little monkey's leg. I just cut out the leg like usual and traced it just a smidge bigger. I drew lines on it and sponged around the edge of the cast. I of course had to use the Big shot and the Naturally Serif Alphabet Die to make the Get Well.

Monochromatic Silhouettes

So today I needed to do an anniversary card. I am still playing catch up so this one will also go out late. I do have my Christmas cards designed but have not started yet. So at this rate I may be sending them out sometime in February. :) So today I decided to check out some of the challenges I may of missed over the past couple of months. I showed the page of challenges to my sons and let them each pick a challenge and a number. For the Ways to Use it Challenge it was to use a Silhouette. I have found that even stamping helps with my spelling. I struggled with that word but now that I use that set quite a bit I am getting better at spelling it. :) Another of my boys chose a Color Challenge. The Challenge for that was to do a monochromatic card. I love those! So that is how this card came about today.

I have always wanted to do the fabulous shadowing that I have seen used with so many of the silhouette cards so this was my chance. The colors photographed weird on this card. The designer paper is the exact colors that as used in the rest of the card, Always Artichoke and Mellow Moss. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig and marker to do the Happy Anniversary on the Photo Corner Punch.

The card base is done in a regular size Always Artichoke. I scalloped the edge with the scallop edge punch and did the same to the card front. I cut a small strip to go inside the card to give it more of a layered look (after thought- I think I should of left the corners alone...but it is already in the mail).

Antique Train

Wow, two days in a row I have had time to stamp! This one is for my nephew who turned 14 last weekend. So it won't be too late...

Today's goal was to do a fairly simple card. I was going to do the split image but after I embossed the train I wanted to keep it all black. The Happy Birthday is also embossed. The photo corner punch is popped up with a glue dot. I sponged around the outside with Basic gray because I did not want it as bold as black.

For those of you who have been asking about my heath: Things are improving. They have changed my daily meds again as the last stuff made my blood pressure raise too high. I have only been on this current stuff for just about a week now and I am still adjusting. She said to give it 2-3 weeks to get into my system. I still am getting migraines every night but at least it is not every day all day. So I schedule my busy times in the day time. I periodically loose the use of my left arm (such as today) and it bugs me as it really limits how fast I can get things done or what I can do. I appreciate all the well wishes cards and prayers! God is in control!

Train Birthday

So I took some time out of my busy house face lifting day to make a card. I am getting so rusty that I went straight to the Sketch challenge for Wednesday to give me a boast. After seeing the sketch I knew exactly which set I wanted to use. We have lots of train lovers in our family and extended family so this set was a must. I stamped the train with Night of Navy Craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. The letters I cut out with the Big Shot. I love how easy they are to apply with the glue pen. Hopefully next week I will have less to do and more time to stamp. The tile is laid and tomorrow we finish grouting. Hopefully I can move my furniture back in from the deck this weekend!

Rosey Red

Oh, I am loving this set! This card was made with the color challenge today. Since today is my birthday, I am 30+11, I am in the need of some Thank You cards. I stamped the main image with Real Red on the Regal Rose, then layered. I stamped the Sanded Background on the card base in So Saffron and sponged the edges with Real Red. In fact I think I sponged almost everything with Real Red. I even edged the Regal Rose ribbon with the Real Red marker too. I was surprised how these colors went together. Circle Sketch

Did I go overboard on the sketch challenge? I just kept adding and adding and adding. I tried to keep the image simple. I have vowed to stop hoarding the hodge podge hardware since I read the the finishes in the current catalog will retire with this catalog. I cannot wait to see what they are coming out with to replace it. I guess the layout kind of reminds me of my schedule fo rthe next 2 weeks before school gets out.

Crimped Lighthouse

So the Ways to Use it challenge today was to makes ruffles or pleats. I chose to crimp. I crimped my Not Quite Navy layer and the photo corner punch. I honestly tried 3 other background stamps before I just went back to the Sanded. I do not know what I will ever do if they retire that one...The ribbon is from the package that Sue sent me as a RAK. I colored the image with the re-inkers and Aqua-pens. The sky I just sponged around the edge and then went in a tad bit.

Sky Blocks

Today was the Color Challenge. The colors were Soft Sky, Purely Pomegranate and Basic Black. I used the 1 1/4" square punch to make my blocks. I love the new Tombo-multi glue. The wide applicator made putting the blocks down so much easier than the other adhesives I used. It was easy to put all over without too much. Just remember to put it where you want it the first time because it sticks!!! I could not decide which color to go with behind the sentiment so I just used both of them. I just kept thinking it needed just a little more and could not figure out what it was. That is were the piercing comes in again. I colored the image with re-inkers and the aqua painters. Just clarify....I glued down all of the squares before I stamped my image.

Color Challenge

Boy, was the >Color Challenge today a doozee! The colors for today are Night of Navy, Real Red and Glorious Green. When I asked my kids what they thought of my card they all said it would be better if I had used different colors....Well, I think it turned out kind of Christmasy. We had some nice weather almost to the 70's. Now it is freezing cold again and suppose to snow today so I guess it fits. ;)

Cracked Motifs

Well, I think I finally have the bugs worked out of my web-site. Yesterday it did not want to upload so I was down most of the day. I really got sick of seeing server not found! Besides the fact that I was really sick. I had a nasty cold hit me again Sunday night. I guess I'm thankful it did not hit while we were at State. I would of hated not being able to watch my son. So I am still working on the sketches I did while we were in Madison last weekend. This is the one I had intended for the Misc card for my Card Buffet next month. If you missed my quandary, due to my site being down yesterday, please check out yesterday's post. A few of my ladies had asked if we could do the cracked glass this month. Long Alligator

It has been forever since I made a long card. This is made to fit in a business size envelopes. The Ways to Use it challenge today was to use Pattern Paper. I sketched this card out last night while I was sitting with the kids in gym at church. Pretty cool that it would work with today's challenge. The old olive card front is part of the Bali Breeze Double sided paper. I wheeled it with the Rough Textured Jumbo Wheel. The alligator is embossed but not for long to give him a shiny texture. The pocket is put on with sticky strip around the edge to make sure it stays on while the message is pulled in and out. I pierced around the pocket and faux stitched with the old olive marker.

So today was the color challenge day. I've wanted to do a swing card for a very long time and just have never gotten around to it. Of course I choose a Tuesday, the only day I get to stay home all day, to do it. I usually give the kids bigger school assignments on Tuesdays since we have no schedule interruptions. So the idea of making a new technique card today was out of my mind. Next time remind me not to try to cut and measure while trying to help with a chemistry lesson, too many numbers for my mind...this is the second card.

Ruby Birthday

So today I am working on SAB samples for my workshop tonight. I've wanted to do this bow for a long time and finally found a card it worked on. I just got his wheel so I thought it fit great with the So many Scallops set. I thought this was a fun yet very simple card. The image was colored with markers. The Scallop is popped up on a glue dot.
