Most Valuable Coach

Sorry, not much time for blogging right now.  #3 son just graduated from High School and we are getting ready for his open house, plus we just ended soccer season which takes up a lot of time so I have been running the kids every where.  I have made some time to stamp a few days a week and I hope to get some time to get pictures and get them up one of these next days.  The kids are having a pizza parties with their soccer teams today.  My 14yr old DS and 12 yr old DD have a husband wife couching team.  The kids really appreciate all they teach them.  So this morning I whipped up a Most Valuable Coach card for the kids to give them thanking them for all the time they put into the season. The banner is popped up with Dimensionals.

Marvin Martian Punch Art

My son has a friend who loves getting my punch art cards.  His first was my Yoda card.  I was running out of unique cards to give him so  I had to go looking.  I ran across a design by Ellen Kemper  by that was just what I was looking for.  My son and his friend were both very happy with the card.  This is a full sized card made from one whole sheet of card stock. The inside I made a bunch of Owl punch aliens to go along the bottom.

Tow Truck

Today my #2 son turns 22.  He is a mechanic/tow truck driver.  With all of the crazy snow and ice we have had here in WI the last month or so he has been very busy and has kept this mother on her knees praying for his safety as he is out of the bad roads pulling people out of ditches etc.  I thought a tow truck card was a perfect fit.  This is an odd sized card so I had to make an envelope for it.  To do the chain I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch , cut it in half and over-lapped it.

Tank Birthday

For the next few months I will be taking the cards I have had saved in draft and putting them up on my Friday's posts.  Things got a bit overwhelming in my household and my good intentions of having posts lined up for when I was off to doctor appointments did not go as planned.  I know some of these sets will already be on my retired list or no longer available.  I hope you can get some inspiration from them for a color, layout  or just something you can use to create a card you can share.  I will do my best to remember all of the things that I used to create the cards, not a guarantee!!!!    ;-)

Birthday Candles

I have seen these candles made from the wings of the Build a Bird punch and today I took the time to try it.   To do the candle base I cut scored them with the Simply Scorer at an angle and then cut them in strips.  The pear ones I put the score lines up and the poppy ones I put the score lines down.  I sponged around the edges.  The sentiment has 3 glue dots one on each and and one in the center.  I added a wave to give it dimension.  The flames are popped up in Dimensionals.

Flowers and Bird WIngs

I was blog hopping one night when my body decided that it would not allow me to do anything else.  I ran across one named http://stampandsmile.blogspot.com/. I love punch art and this was so cute I just had to make one.  I needed an extra special card for a special friend that no matter what she is going through in life she always puts others first.  I know this will put a smile on her face.  The flowers are made from the wings of the Bird Builder punch with the leaves for stems.  I forgot I wanted to add bling to the corners of the sentiment until after I had taken the picture, but it was added before it was sent off to her.

Yoda Punch Card

Well, today is the Birthday of my one of my son's best friends.  His mother is a very dear friend of mine and also a fellow paper crafter.  When I asked him if he had any ideas that he would like for a gift and a card he reminded me that Ryan loved Star Wars.  My son, Levi, loves punch art and asked me if I would be able to do a Star Wars punch art card.  After all of the time I had spent on my Noah's ark one I did not know if I was up to the challenge.  So days pass and he reminds me that the party is coming up really fast and asks if I had gotten around to the Yoda card.  So now it is not just Star Wars but a Yoda card.  So I did a google search and found this picture of Yoda to work from.

So I sat down and got to work.  All of my punches are either hanging on my wall (older version) or sitting on my desk (new version). So it was just a look around to see what would go together.  I tried to look at the image to see what would be the hardest to do and I found that to me it would be the eyes...so that is where I started.  I figured if I could not get the eyes to look right I might as well scratch it and start something else.  I looked at my punches and thought the end leaf on the Two Step Bird Punch would be just the right size for the eyes. So I punched the Whisper White and the Pear Pizazz (the color I thought would make the best Yoda) with the end of the leaf.  The eyeball parts are punched with the small and large of the Crop-a-dile (that thing is more handy then I ever thought it to be :) )  I just used my marker to put a black circle in the center of the Chocolate Chip.  The ears are from the same punch.  I just used the wing.  I did have to trim the Chocolate Chip just a smidge to get it to layer the way I wanted it to.  I used the same area of the leaf again for Yoda's button nose.  His fine white hair is the stuffing out of an old pillow I was throwing away.  One of my biggest delimas was how to get the light saber to glow.  My 8 year old daughter said "Why don't you just spray it with your shiny spray?"   Duh!  So I used the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz to give it some glow.

For my sentiment I wanted something fancy that went about the whole width of the card.  I cut my cardstock 11/4" wide and put it into the back of the Decorative Label Punch as shown above.  I did each end this way.  I trimmed the Pear pizazz just a smidge thinner so I could layer it.  I think that I once again sponged every angle I could get at.  I did have to use my tweezers to sponge and assemble the eyes but other than that it went together pretty easy.

 

I tried to make the background "Spacey" without being too cluttered.  So I sponged in a moon and added "stars" with the blotches from the French Foliage set. My son is very happy with how it turned out.  He cannot wait until the party next weekend!

Punch Art Noah's Ark

My Brother-in-Law has a birthday next week.  Since I did a punch art card for his daughter last week I figured it would be fun to do one for him too,  So I did a gallery search at www.Splitcoaststampers.com and found this Noah's Ark card that I worked off from.  It took me most of the day and got a bit carried away...but could not stop.  This is a full size card (5.5" x 8.5").  It is hard to see but I used tore paper and sponges to make the sky background.  I think every edge is sponged except for the Whisper White.  I will do my best to list all of the punches I used for each...forgive me if I miss any!

Happy Birthday Sophia

  

Today is my niece's 3rd birthday. I wanted to make a very special card for her. I saw a card on Andrea Walford's  site and just had to make one of the little people I have seen popping up everywhere. Since I received the Ornament Punch for Christmas I just had to give one a try.  I do not have a lot of designer paper so I decided to use Love Letter Paper and color it with ink pads and sponges.  So here is my little Sophia with pearls on her hat, lots of pretty presents and plenty of sparkle.

I was in the need for a card for a pre-teen girl and when I saw this card on Chanda's Blog I knew this was a perfect one for her. It was such a fun punch card.  Of course I had to add my own little touch and add texture to the chest and wings.  My eyes did not turn out as nice.  I guess I will need to get those little punches after all. :)

VW Slug Bug Card

I needed a card for one of my son's friends for his birthday. They are taking driver's training and they also love to play the "slug bug" game. So when I saw this card I knew it was the one that I had to do for his birthday.  I did not have any tree stamps that would go with a cartoony car and I had no designer paper either so I turned to MDS to get the paper I needed and just printed it off.  I thought it was great to do a punch car card with all kinds of punches.  The headlights I had to hand cut since I did not have a punch that size.

Happy Puppy Birthday

We had a birthday party to attend for a little boy last weekend and I wanted to make him a very fun card.  So after about 20 remakes this is what I finally settled with (and yes, this is the card that the Build-a-bear from Wednesday's post was originally cut for).  I got the puppy idea from Jackie's Blog.  I did change up the eyes to fit how I wanted them to.  If you ever want great punch art inspiration that is the place to go! The background is a wheel.  Do you even know how long it has been since I used a wheel?  They got put in the background and when I can't see them they do not get used.  So now they have a new home and we will see if that helps.  The gifts are just square punches with thin card stock crossed on them.  To do the bows I punched with the small oval and then the large, cut them in half and offset them behind the gift.
