Monkey in a Pumpkin Patch

So today's Limited Use Challenge had a triple challenge.
1.)Make a harvest scene using 3 or more stamps (check-pumpkin patch).
2.)Use an animal not usually expected in the scene (Check- monkey in pumpkin patch?).
3.) Make it a tent topper card. (Check -done).
We were suppose to challenge ourself to use less layers and less embellishments. I for sure would of popped up the pumpkins rather than masking and I would of added ribbon and twill or something through the eyelets. I was sooo tempted to add crystal effects to acorns or the monkey but stopped myself. I also wanted to add brads along the ribbon. The images were colored with an Aqua Pena and re-inkers.
Stamps: Autumn Harvest, Monkey Business, Leaves Awash Jumbo Wheel
Paper: Wild Wasabi, River Rock, Pumpkin Pie
Ink: Black Stazon, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron
Accessories: Jumbo Eyelets, Crop-a-dile, Double Stitched Wild Wasabi Ribbon, Pumpkin Pie Ribbon, Corner Rounder Punch

Pencil Sharpened???

You will have no idea how many times this poor card has been taken apart and adjusted. I started out as a very simple card with very few embellishments. The more I looked it just was not right. So I have stopped looking and said enough!!! The challenge today was the Ways to Use it and we were to sharpen our pencils. I grabbed my Metallic pencils. I had not used them in a very long time. I blended with a blending medium I had found in the water color section at the craft store. Our stores do not carry gamsol for blending. The Wise men do look a lot more shiny in real life. The angels is embossed with black EP. For the life of me I could not get a good picture! :(

Stamps: Sanded Background, Baroque Motifs, Holy Triptych
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Brushed Gold
Ink: Encore Gold, Versa Mark, Black Stazon
Accessories: Fire Circle Rhinestone brads, Fire Square Rhinestone brads, Gold Brads, Photo Corner Punch, Snow Blossom Punch, Gold Elastic Cord, Black Embossing Powder, Metallic Pencils, White Water Color Pencil

Thankful Season

We had, what I consider, a great day at the Doc yesterday. For more information see our family blog of the side bar. So I thought for today's Sketch Challenge card a Thankful card would be great, besides I just got this set so I had to use it!!! I am very thankful beyond what words could express. I have 6 wonderful kids, a beyond great husband, a very supportive and loving extended family, church family and friends. On top of that all is the fact that I know I am in God's hand no matter what is going on in my life. Ok, now that I have wiped away the tears... my card. I was so in a coloring mood yesterday but the color challenge did not give me the opportunity to do so like I wanted to. So this was a great chance. I love this card just because of the colors. I love fall colors!! As you saw in yesterday's post I just got the Crop-a-Dile. How I lived so long with out it, I will never know. I dreaded eyelets before, because they were too much work and loud. This makes it so much easier and more eyelets are now on my wish list!! The Words are embossed. I stamped the leaf under the words off once to lighten it. The leaf was stamped on vellum paper and cut out. I did not want more card stock to take away from the main image, but needed something there to complete the sketch. I colored the image with re-inkers and an Aqua pen.

I hope you are all having a great week and would love to hear what you are thankful for!!!

Stamps: Thankful Season, Sanded Background
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla, Vellum paper
Ink: Creamy Caramel, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip Craft, Basic Brown, For coloring the image I mainly stayed with the Earth Elements family
Accessories: Earth Element Brads, Cutting tool for distressing, Chocolate Chip Taffeta ribbon, Clear embossing powder

Loads of Love

So yesterday my pre-order from the up-coming mini (available to order from on Sept 1st) came. I was so hoping today's challenge would be colors that I could use with one of those sets. No such luck. Shelby, my 5 yr old daughter, has some great ideas for the new sets! I cannot wait to try them out!! I did get the change to use my new Jumbo Eyelets and Crop-a-Dile (wonderful new tool!!!) The colors for today's Color Challenge were: Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Purely Pomegranate. I had this idea to do with the punches in my sleep last night and just had in incorporate it into this card.

Paper: Old Olive, Whisper White, Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink
Ink: Black Stazon, Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink, Neutrals-Sahara Sand, Basic Gray, Going Gray

Resist Flower

This card was made for today's Technique Challenge. It incorporates two different resist techniques. One is the Emboss Resist and one is the Versamark resist. I stamped my doodle image with Versamark ink on White Glossy paper. I then used clear embossing powder to seal it. I stamped the flower image in Versamark and left it. I then brayered over both images with Blue Bayou ink. I then stamped some partial edge flower with Blue Bayou. I used the corner rounder and the 1/8" circle punch to do the lace edge. I found the pearl string sitting on my desk. They had fallen off my daughter's dress and I had no intention of putting them back on so I thought they fit great here. I sponged around the edge of all the Soft Sky with Blue Bayou. I dyed the Pretties by rubbing them in the ink pad.

Stamps: Doodle This, Short and Sweet
Paper: Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Whisper White Glossy
Ink: Versa Mark, Blue Bayou
Accessories: Pretties Flowers and pearls, Ice Square Rhinestone Brads, Blue Bayou Double Stitched Ribbon, Oval Punches, Corner Rounder Punch, 1/8" circle punch

Triple Challenge

Wow!! Friday's Challenge on SCS is the Limited Supplies Challenge. Today's was to pick an old Sketch Challenge and an old Color Challenge, choose no more than 2 embellishments (preferably hoarded ones), and to use 1 or 2 stamp sets you have not used for a long time. When this set came out in the Mini I had to have it. I am not a now persona so I hardly use it, even though I have seen some adorable ideas for it. So I randomly clicked a sketch page and closed my eyes and picked. I did the same with the color challenge. I ended up with Sketch Challenge 27 and Color Challenge 29. I seem to hoard my Hodgepodge Hardware buckles so I made myself use one. One was not soooo bad. For the snowflake panel I stamped the snowflake in versamark and clear embossed. I then sponged the other colors randomly over. Just let me add...I LOVE my Stamp-ama-jig!!!

Stamps: Cold Play, Snowflake Wheel
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Whisper White
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Basic Black, Versamark
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware, Clear Embossing Powder, 1/4" Grosgrain: Bravo Burgundy, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke

Cowboy in the Woods

Ok, I just had to do one more today. I've had this idea for a while and finally had the time to do it today. Since a lot of my trees are pine trees (as you can see in the photo). I actually built my house around a certain Pine tree in the yard. I tried to do the sky in fall colors. I sponged the sun through a punched out 1" circle. I then masked the sun and did Soft Sky with a little of Cameo Coral. I sponge a little Blue Bayou around the edge. I originally made this to go in the Fall Theme Challenge. Just as I was going to upload I got an e-mail that a new submission had been loaded to the Clearly Fun Challenge. That challenge was to use a transparency, so it fit that one too!!!

Stamps: Bronc Buster, Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Summer Sun, Cameo Coral, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Garden Green, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Black Stazon
Accessories: Pewter Brads, Window Sheet

Fall Leaves

Today's Challenge on SCS was the Way to Use It Challenge to do a Halloween card. Since I do not have anything halloween we had the option to do a fall card. For those who know me, they know I love it hot. I wish I could still have the heat with the fall colors. I live in the woods and love just driving down my driveway watching the trees turn colors day by day. Isn't is fascinating how God placed the trees just in the right places so the colors are so enjoyable. If fall colors do not show our Great Creator I do not know what does. What if He would of placed all the yellow tress together...not so pretty! The leaves are curled up on the card. I wanted to do the Polished Stone Technique again. This card seems to be missing something (Maybe the sanded background, LOL!). Have a great day and stamp something today!!
Stamps: Aida Cloth, Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Glossy White, Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, Old Olive, Very Vanilla
Ink: Re-inkers: Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Gold Encore /Basic Brown, Timber Brown Stazon

Starstruck

S0 this card was made for today's Sketch Challenge on SCS. I am not a snow person (and choose to live in Wisconsin...go figure). I am addicted to punches and just had to have the Snow Blossom punch. I am always looking for other ways to use it. I still am undecided if this card is too busy or not. The Snow Blossom star is popped up with a glue dot. I am always short on guy cards so this set will be great for that!

Ink: Craft and Classic Chocolate Chip, More Mustard Classic

Groovy Motifs

No I did not forget this blog. I had a nice long weekend with my family, or last fling before school starts. So today was Color Challenge day on SCS. Have I said yet how much I love this years In Colors (LOL) ? Funny thing, I was browsing a magazine yesterday while traveling and I saw these two colors together and thought that I had to make a card using them. Well today's color challenge just happened to be: Groovy Guava and Soft Sky. I've also wanted to use the bleach with my new favorite background stamp, Sanded. This was the perfect card for that. The bleach did fade out the words slightly on the side. Only the center word was full ink, the sides were stamped off once to lighten. The flower is popped up with a Glue Dot.
Stamps: Sanded, Baroque Motifs, Trimtastic
Paper: Soft Sky, Groovy Guava
Ink: Bleach, Soft Sky, Groovy Guava

Flannel Flower

Today's Challenge on SCS was the Ways to Use it Challenge. The challenge was to use a pin. I love the New Pretties kit but I hate to use it. I'm a hoarder, I think it is great but always want it to be there. So today I used one of the hat pins. I stamped the star in craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. The Chocolate Chip is roughed around the edges. I used the mat pack from the tool kit to do the piercing around the Creamy Caramel. I left the pick in the hole and turned just a notch to keep them lined up. I used the same thing with the scallop punch. I lined up the corner of the mat with the edge of the scallop. The flower head is stuck down with a pop up glue dot. I used the corner rounder to do the scalloped edge and roughed up the rest of the sides. The Wish Big is embossed. My flowers on my deck are so pretty in the morning I cannot help but share them along with this card.
Stamps: Starstruck, Flannel Background, Baroque Motifs, Short & Sweet
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla

Green Monkey

This card was done for today's Sketch Challenge of SCS. I turned the sketch on it's side to make it work. I'm trying to challenge myself to use more of the sets and colors I have that I do not grab for regularly. I just cannot stop using the Sanded background. I love it! The Monkey, Bananas and Thanks bar are "popped" up on dimensionals.

Paper: Basic Black, Green Galore, Gable Green, Very Vanilla

Sanded Baroque

Today's Challenge on SCS was the Color Challenge. The colors for the challenge were Sahara Sand, Blue Bayou, and Chocolate Chip. I had big ideas and was going to layer and embellish galore. When it all finally came together it was simple and I liked it that way. I love the new Sanded background. It was not originally on my wish list but after I saw a few cards using it I just had to have it. The easiest way I have found to cut my ribbon in a v shape is to fold it in half and cut down. The point is always in the center that way.
Stamps: Sanded, Baroque Motifs
Paper: Blue Bayou, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Blue Bayou, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Antique Brads, Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon

Bunches of Thanks

Oh, to take the time to stamp again. Today's techniques challenge on SCS was to make a View master card. I have wanted to do one of these for so long but just have not had the time. This was not a Monday morning challenge after being sick for so long. Not something to jump back in to. I must of re-done it at least 4 times. The thing that stumped me was what to do with the brad. After I had figured out to use the punch there I decided to use the punch as the background. I then used the punched out area and sponged the banana ones. The bummer is you do not get to see the rest of the things I have stamped in the turn area. I have the pineapple drink, the monkey, the heart, and another Thank you. I stamped the background with the Sanded and sponged the Chocolate Chip around the edges. The Technique tutorial can be found here.
Stamps: Monkey Business, Sanded Background
Paper: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana
Ink: Barely Banana, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive (Banana) On the things you cannot see- Ruby Red (Heart) More Mustard, Ruby Red, Garden Green (Pineapple)
Accessories: 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain, Fire Circle Rhinestone,Punches- 1 3/8" Circle, 1 1/4" Circle, 1/8" Circle, Large Oval, Snow Blossom, Coluzzle

Simple Flower

My mind is in such a simple state right now after being sick for so long. I had no idea what to make but knew I wanted to stamp today. I went to SCS to check out the challenge. Today was the Limited supply challenge. We were to make a summery card, the best of summer. I love summer and enjoying summer, so the simple worked great for me. Things are so busy with running the kids to so many events I really enjoy when I get to sit and look at the flowers. Such simple times, call for a simple card.
Stamps: Petals Jumbo Wheel, Polka Dots and Paisley
Paper: Purely Pomegranate, River Rock
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, River Rock
Accessories: Corner Punch for Scalloped edge, Purely Pomegranate double stitched ribbon, River Rock double stitched ribbon

Sketch Challenge

Boy have I missed stamping. I have been sick since last Friday and just had no energy to do anything besides what had to be done and even that was tough. So I started this card yesterday morning and was determined to finish at least one card this week.

I used the sketch challenge from SCS. I am so addicted to the In Colors this year. It is hard to use anything else. I tend to grab the brads every card and leave the eyelets alone, so this time I grabbed the eyelets. I punched a piece of printed paper to sponge the scallop shape around the heart.
Stamps: Double Line Doodle
Paper: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, River Rock, Whisper White
Ink: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, River Rock
Accessories: Groovy Guava Dble Stitched Ribbon, Silver Eyelets, Punches-Scallop Circle, Word Window, Slit, Tool kit for piercing

Big Bug

Life is busy!!! I just had to take some time to make a card today. I seem to be in a slump, so bare with me please.
This was done for yesterday's Sketch Challenge. I just got some of the new SU textured paper in yesterday and just had to use it. I also got the sanded background. I've seen so many cool cards made with it and was convinced it was one I just had to have. I've seen such cute cards made with punches to make magnifying glasses. The intention of this was to be a frame, but took it's own direction. It seems to be lacking something...any pointers?
Stamps: Sanded Background, Label Classics, Bugs and Kisses, Short and Sweet
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Groovy Guava regular and textured, Wild Wasabi textured, Very Vanilla
