Another last minute Christmas gift. I can never go wrong with a personalized gift. I knows that she loves shimmer and bling so I tried to add as much as I could without going overboard. The top Awning is sprayed with the Shimmer paint/ Rubbing Alcohol Solution. The letters were sponged to add a bit of a vintage touch.

This is a go to set for me when it comes to masculine cards, and most of the men in my family loves wildlife so it fits them too. To do the leaves I just stamped them in the lighter colors and used a marker to outline and put a few spots in the center, very simple yet gives a great effect.

I can't believe my daughter had one more friend who had not received one of these name frames as a gift yet (Lol). When we were still in our gift planning stage my daughter mentioned that Kayla said that she would love one of the frames for Christmas. Her favorite colors are blue and purple so that is where we started. My daughter pulled out the Color Coach and started matching colors with the DSP that I had on hand. This one is retired (I thought I had used it all up) I had just gotten the Fun Flowers die so I just had to use it. I always enjoy making these and this one was very fun to do.

Stick Horse

One of the fun things that will be available in just a few short weeks (January 4th) is the Framelit Dies. My Husband asked me this year as I was rushing, once again, to finish my cards and get them in the mail for Christmas why I can't just keep them simple. My 9 year old daughter turned to him and replied "Dad, for Mom that is simple."

I guess I always love to make special cards for special people on their birthdays and Christmas is the celebration of the birth of my Saviour, so the Christmas cards I send out are His birthday cards. He is the most special person in my life so I feel it necessary to make him a special birthday card.

I do have a tutorial somewhere on how to make the perfect circle outline with the Circle Scissors Plus and will try my best to remember to put it up once things slow down after the holidays.

I wish you all a very Merry CHRISTmas and pray that you have all accepted Christ as your Saviour and are enjoying the true meaning of Christmas.

Stocking Punch Gift Tags

So do you have all of your gifts wrapped and ready to go? My kids have been begging every day if they can open just one. I am holding out (it is a good chore encouraging tool). They have had their hands on all of the gifts that have their names on them and they think they have them all figured out. I am one of those sneaky moms who hate it when the kids guess the gifts before hand. Last year I put no names on them at all, just numbers. When they were handing out the gifts I had a list and told them which person got which numbers. I did mess up and my son ended up with a pink Barbie Volkswagen and my daughter got a CSI kit. I am always good for a laugh. This year I put names on them (but none of them have the right names...shhh!) I made these cute and easy gift tags to put on all of our gifts this year. I folded my DSP in half and and lined up the punch right below the fold. It worked pretty spiffy.

Family MDS Picture

These are my wonderful children. I am blessed to be their Mother (Mother-in-law and Grandma) I do make my cards (which you will see on Friday) and I try to include a picture that coordinates with the card. I do my family picture-card in MDS. Since my cards are A2 size (4.25" x 5.5") and I use an invitation envelope to send them in I have to make sure my pictures are the same size. I have them printed in a 4" x 6". As you can see I left the bottom 1/2" blank. That way I can just cut off the blank part and drop them in the envelope. In MDS I use a square punch and set it to the 4" x 6" size. I color it so I do not loose it. I then create another punch and layer it directly over top of it leaving the 1/2" short. Then I decorate the area I have left. I connect them and drag the corner out to be as large as it will allow me to work on. After I have them just how I want them I export them in a jpeg and crop them to the right size in my photo editing program. They are then all set to be sent to my local photo printing store for printing.

I know we are in the middle of winter and it is no time for flowers. I had made this card quite a while back and forgot to post it, so no better time like the present. I had a request for a simple card from a Sunday School teacher to send to a student who has been absent. The stamp says "i miss you" but since they wanted it from the class which should be "We" I decided to just have it say "miss you" . I inked the stamp up with a marker so I only got the words that I wanted to use. I took this idea from page 98 in the catalog. It was simple a cute, just what I was looking for. :-)

I have had orders coming in left and right and no time to use any of the new products so I got up early this morning and got my chores finished so that I could take a few minutes and make a card that is to go out in today's mail. I made sure to use as much of my new stuff as I could fit in. The Adorning Accents Embossing folders are soo cute. I did not order the matching Edgelits Dies yet but they will be on my first order next month! Another thing that will be on my next order is the rest of the pleated ribbons. They are so much nicer in real life than the picture could ever show. They will be just adorable on any baby card! Here I sponged the edged of the flower and spritz the bottom of the card and the flower with Champagne Mist/ Rubbing Alcohol solution spray. I have spent all of my extra time today so back to work I must go (still working on those Christmas cards...)

So being that I have been spending so much time working on my Christmas card and gifts I stock piled some cards to post at a later date. So even though butterflies are not seen very often in December I do love them in fall colors in which I made this card. One day when we were on a long road trip I had time to sit and look through the catalog. I made a long list of cards that I wanted to make that looked quick and easy. I took this idea from page 152 in current the catalog. The sentiment that I used was just too short for the punch I wanted to use so I decided to fold over an edge. Heritage Book-Family Record Page MDS

I am still plugging away at my Mother's Heritage book. It may not make it for Christmas. Since she wanted it right up to the day I send it to the publisher I thought that I would need to include a page or two for her to write any additional births or marriages. I found the top part as an image in a Google search. I added a punched squared background and matched it to what was already behind the image so that it blended. For the corners I wanted something ornate. So I opened my photo editing program, brought in the Frame It Stamps and cropped a few corners and sides. I then saved them right back in the same folder with a slight change of the file name. I was then able to open them just like any other stamp in MDS and alter them just like normal. The lines I also created in my photo editing program (Microsoft Picture it) saved it as a png file in the Frame It folder and I was able to alter the color to match once I placed it on my page. So if there is ever a stamp in MDS that you just want a part of, you don't have to mask it, make it work for you! (If you do accidentally save it without changing the name after altering it, you may have to re-install or re-download)

MDS Monday-Heritage Book

One thing I get stuck in a rut with when doing the heritage book is what to journal on. I have soooo many census and immigration sheets and write out what they say, since they sometimes can be hard to read. Here I layered a bunch of oval punches (since they seemed to match the background pattern. )After I had them how I wanted them, I grouped them together and added a drop shadow. Then I threw a couple of antique brads on the end. I think it had a cool look to break up the monotony of all of the charts. Now to get this book done and sent it to print before Christmas gets here....

MDS Heritage Book

This card was a complete accident on my part so I guess it just designed itself. I cut the paper for another card and did not like how it fell together so it just sat on my shelf for a few days until I decided that I needed to use it. I love how the chair fit perfectly in the frame of the impression folder. I embossed the chair to give it some dimension since the paper flowers are a velvet. I think the 2 1/2" circle punch is a perfect backing for the frame. Now if we only have an oval punch that fit it so I did not have to cut it out. Lol

MDS Monday-Grand Daughter

I have not had much time to work lately with my MDS. I do have a good reason though. My son, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter came and spent the week. I took lots and lots of pictures so I have plenty of pages to work on when I find the time. She loved playing with a puppy app on my phone and would talk to it, scold it when it was naughty and give it lots and lots of kisses. I do not have much use for the Play Date set in MDS (but I had to have it) since my kids are older but it looks so good with her pictures and will work great on my outdoor pictures of her playing in the woods.

My son needed a birthday card for a friend who is an avid hunter. He went through my sets and picked this one out and asked if I could make him one with a deer, please. How could I say no? Of course I headed to my Designer paper to try to get a color idea of where I wanted to go and of course I was drawn to the Well Worn DSP that I love sooo much. I thought the wood grain background would be perfect for the background but after I roughed up all of the edges and laid it all together ( I never glue it all together until it is just the way I want it, plus I hate brads etc showing on the inside of the card.) it needed just a bit more color, so I added the small squares panel under the deer and it added the perfect amount of extra color. Plus it gave me a place to tie a bit of Baker's twine which I had been trying to find a home for. The edges were roughed with the cutter's tool and sponged around. The background behind the deer was done with sponges rubbed on the ink pad. To do the sun I punched out a circle and sponged around it with Daffodil Delight, then I used the punch out to sponge the Bashful Blue through it. I sponged over some of it with the Calypso Coral and the dark areas with Cajun Craze.

Love a Wedding

I had a request for an elegant wedding card. It had to be big enough so that a few families, that were going in together, could sign. I have wanted to make the punch art wedding cake for awhile so this seemed like a perfect opportunity. Since I had the extra room, the card is 5.5" x 8.5", I was able to add another element that I have wanted to do to the side. I used the Round Tab Punch for the cake base. I just punched it once and then put it back in to make it slimmer. What a fun card to make, I almost did not want to send it out. Lol The inside was printed on Whisper White cardstock from the computer with a wedding poem. I did not notice that my photo was blurred until after it was already gone. I also alternated pink and white hearts across the bottom.

MDS Monday Family Tree

As I mentioned in an earlier post I was working on my Mother's Heritage Book. I decided to go another route for how to layout her family trees per page than I did with my Father's. I did his with a spread sheet and thought that using the Forever Young digital would be more appealing to the eye. The tough part was that they had quite a few kids in the family so it took a whole page to lay them out. I do my books in an 8.5" x 11" so this one I did in a landscape layout to help it fit better. I started each page with the parents facing each other and then the kids below them all facing to the right. I shadowed and offset the one that would continue the family tree on to the next page. My mother had no problem following the layout.

I have been wanting to try the frame Impression folder as the focal point of the card without cutting it out. So that is what I challenged myself with today. I wanted more then that so I first did the outside lines with the Simply Scored Scoring tool and then lined up the frame in the center before running it through the Big Shot. I masked the center of the card and stamped the flourish down the sides. I had intended on putting candles on the cake but it did not look right so I thought butterflies would tie in with the flowers. To do the Concord Crush part of the Sentiment I punched it, turned it around and punched it again, making it the size I needed. I did the same thing with the punch to make the cake stand.

Uncharted Sailboat

I peeked at the sketch challenge last night before falling asleep because I knew my time wold be limited today and I really wanted to use the new set I just got in. So this had to be a simple quick card. the reason I put off ordering this set was because of my coloring skills, or lack there of... As long as I was short on time I decided just no to color any of it in. The biggest challenge for me in this sketch was the fancy something on the edge of the small strip. Since this was a manly card I did not want any flourish. I love my Tasteful Trim Die but I just forget to use it. I need to find a better place to keep my extended Dies! I think it looks like waves sticking out of the edge....imagine very hard lol. I had also just broke down and ordered some Seam Binding Ribbon just for the purpose of running it through the Big Shot and adding texture to it. That is what helped me jump start my color theme for today. For the rolled corner, I just rolled it down and stuck a glue dot underneath to hold it down.

Wow, I just realized that I let this post without any comment from me at all. What a busy week I have had! I tend to be a very frugal person. I love stamping and digi-scrapping but I hate to spend the money unless I earn it, so that is why I became a Demonstrator. When I saw the price for the Downtown Grunge Digital I really debated on paying $19.95 for a download. I let it sit for a bit and then I broke down and ordered it. I love it. It has so many uses and elements that I will use on many many pages. So if you are debating on getting it or missed it on the downloads, I give it 2 thumbs up!

These are my most favorite colors! I think the Well Worn DSP might be one of the only that I use up and will have to re-order before the catalog retires. I am not a big DSP buyer but these colors hit my taste perfectly! When I started this card I knew I wanted to do a few rows of hearts. So I went to look through my DSP to see my color theme. I figured that I did not want just a plain card front and I did not want to trim around the edge of the Top Not Die so I decided to try something new. I cut an Early Espresso and then quartered it. The hardest part was to layer it so all was even. I tied on my ribbon and tags and it was all set to go in the mail.

When I saw today's sketch the first thing I thought of doing was the Rhinestones down the center of the ribbon. So the first thing I did was look at which ribbon I wanted to use. Once I had chosen the Quilted Satin Ribbon from the Holiday Mini I checked to see which designer paper I had to go with it. I know it says Early Espresso on the ribbon, but I found that mine matched the Chocolate Chip Cardstock better. Thankfully both were in the Designer sheet that I chose. One of the great things about the Designer paper in the catalog compared to what you buy in the store is you can look at the paper in the catalog and it will tell you what colors it matches with. Behind the stamped bench, which is embossed, I used the clear block method. I wanted something slight so I took my the clear block I had the stamp on and pressed it in the River Rock ink pad. Then I stamped it on the paper, cut around it and rounded the corners. I stamped the bench with Early Espresso and used the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp over it with Versamark so that I could emboss it. Of course every edge was sponged with Chocolate Chip ink. The flower centers are done with the small side of the crop-a-dile. I do not have a small enough circle punch and it works perfect. I keep an old CD that I put a dab of Mono-adhesive on and use a toothpick to apply glue to the smaller items. I know the set I go the sentiment from is called Three Little Words and I had every intention of using the Three Little Words until I decided what punch I wanted to use and saw what fit. So it is Two Little Words instead...Lol

I love this set, but I struggle with a good layout to use it in. So today I combined a few things that I wanted to do. First I embossed it so that I could color the sections with re-inkers and Aqua pens. The next thing I wanted to do was to make a design around the outside with the Simply Scored Scoring tool. I also have wanted to make a quilt like design and I thought the new Snow Burst Impression Folder was a perfect design for that. I liked the way it turned out so much that I made a second one... which is very rare for me.

I love that with MDS it is so simple to make the stamps to match in colors. I can change them to any SU color I want to make them match any color on my page. Another great thing is the opacity. I love to change the transparency of the objects....and the drop shadow is as popular as the shading when I make cards. I have soo many ideas for the Downtown Grunge Kit. It is just loaded with things I love to use.

Birthday Candles

I have seen these candles made from the wings of the Build a Bird punch and today I took the time to try it. To do the candle base I cut scored them with the Simply Scorer at an angle and then cut them in strips. The pear ones I put the score lines up and the poppy ones I put the score lines down. I sponged around the edges. The sentiment has 3 glue dots one on each and and one in the center. I added a wave to give it dimension. The flames are popped up in Dimensionals.

Baby Card Sketch

What a fun Sketch to work with this morning! I just could not fall asleep last night so I took a sneak peak at the sketch to see what I might dream about doing today. I knew I was in need of some baby cards for my stash so that was my first thought. To figure out the colors that I wanted to use was pretty easy. I figured Pretty Pink for girl and Bashful Blue for the boy. I then used the color coach to find out what the suggested coordinating colors were. I knew I wanted to use the Baker's twine to tie on the tag so the Chocolate Chip (I thought the Early Espresso was to dark) was the perfect complimenting color. The folded part of the card is 5.25" x 4" and mounted on a piece of 5.5" x 4.25 card stock. I have problems using the bigger of the rhinestones and since I have another pack (or two...) on my October 1st order I figure I better get around to using them and they fit perfect on this card. All in all this was a very simple very quick card to put together and now I have another thing crossed off of my do to list!

The next page I am going to share with you today from our beginning of school photo shoot is my #2 youngest. He does not like going outside or smiling so these were great shots to get. I love the Awning stamp. I wanted it shorter than normal so I created a square punch, filled it in with the same background and moved it to cover the extended punch. I live to double layer text, almost as much as I love to sponge on my cards. I have been working on another genealogy book and I cannot wait to share some of those pages with you!

Name Frames

I had to make two name frames this last week. I did not have time and I knew that these two people would probably never cross paths so I decided to make them similar with a few slight differences. The one of the bottom I did first and forgot to take a picture before I put the glass in....so no matter what I tried I could not get an accurate picture. The top one I was told that the bride likes vintage and browns so I decided to sponge the edges and curl some flowers. I cut my paper a little too big so I decided that the small strip would be added to the bottom (must look close) funny thing is that this paper is the same no matter how I flipped it so I had to cut it to off set it just a bit. For both of them I cut out the center flower of the Lace Ribbon Border punch to give a change to the border. I used 3 different size Basic Pearls on the top one.

I am sure in a fall color mood and I am sure that very soon the trees around me will start to change to match my favorite color scheme. My son was in the need of a birthday card for one of his friends. I made one yesterday (which is scheduled to post at a later date) with the Need for Speed set and he said " Mom, he is turning 11 not 7"...so off to the creative design thought process once again. Thankfully I had the sketch challenge to day to fall back on and it worked out great! I realized that besides the colors I really went out of my realm. There is no big shot or sponging on any of the card. His friend's family are big hunters so he picked out the set and I would not let him know anything I was doing until it was done....it met the approval of my soon to be (next week) 12 yr old son!

I was blog hopping one night when my body decided that it would not allow me to do anything else. I ran across one named http://stampandsmile.blogspot.com/. I love punch art and this was so cute I just had to make one. I needed an extra special card for a special friend that no matter what she is going through in life she always puts others first. I know this will put a smile on her face. The flowers are made from the wings of the Bird Builder punch with the leaves for stems. I forgot I wanted to add bling to the corners of the sentiment until after I had taken the picture, but it was added before it was sent off to her.

Fall Leaves

I know it is not fall yet, but the morning seems cool enough that the leaves will be changing soon. I was in need of another masculine Birthday card and today's sketch was the perfect avenue to jump start this card. the leaves were first stamped in the Cajun Craze and then outlined with the Early Espresso marker before putting it to the paper. I also sponged around the edges after I cut them out. They are adhered with glue dots. The designer paper had the trim all the way around the 12 x12 paper.Once I cut it down it only had the edge on 2 sides. So I used the marker to doodle some lines an did some more sponging to blend it all in. I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to do the double lines around the edge on the card base. It needed something simple and it did the trick. The Happy Birthday was in the middle of the Cake on the stamp. I just used the marker to ink what I wanted to use.

I haven't worked with my MDS for a long time. We started school and one of the fun things we do on the first day of school is school picture day. My 15 yr old loves to take pictures so he takes the kids out in the yard and tries to get some good shots for me to update my family tree wall. I do not like the word hallway so I call it my Photo Hanging Opportunity Area. We have our family pictures hanging in a pattern to form a family tree of wedding pictures for 5 generations. My 6 kids are 2 x 3 down the edge. It took me a while to pick the ones I wanted to print and hang but I knew there were others I just could not delete so I decided they each needed a 2 page spread in our 2011 family book.

As we were sitting down for lunch sometime last week, my son asked me to please make a card using the fighter jet from the Need for Speed set. He LOVES that set and I know it will get used, if not just for him and his friends. I had been re-organizing my work space again and wanted to play with my new Simply Scored Scoring tool. If you have not put in on your order or at least have it on your wish list from the Holiday Mini, it is a must! To do the card base I just lined it up and scored 2 lines every inch, turned it and did it again. I think it makes a great and easy background. This card took no longer than 30 minutes for me to do from concept to photograph. I embossed the plane, painted it with re-inkers and Aqua Painter and cut it out (that was the hardest part). For the sky I ripped a piece of paper and sponged off the edge moving it and flipping it around and then lightly around the edge. The plane and matted circle are both mounted with dimensions to give a bit more pop.

I am in a slump....I tried all day yesterday to make a card and nothing turned out the way I wanted to. I looked at today's Sketch and just drew a blank. So I grabbed some Designer paper to try to get some ideas and I just could not find a sheet that inspired me today. So I guess I made a sympathy card....or maybe I can use it for a Happy 50th birthday for a friend. The one thing that I do love to do, and now have about 10 of them sitting on my shelf ready to be put on some project along the way, is to make the accordian flowers. They are soooo easy to do with the new Simply Scored Scoring Tool (coming out tomorrow). For this small one I just punched out 2 x 1-3/4" scallop circles, scored every indent all the way across, cut down one to the center and accordion folded each section all the way around. The 2nd one you will fold the opposite of the first so that when you attach them they fit together perfectly. I added a small Antique brad to the center with a mini pearl to that. The background I ran through the Big Shot with the Fancy fan Letter Press Plate and the Silicone Rubber and no cutting pad ( just put in upside down on the platform).

If you are a regular visitor to my blog then you know I love the worn, vintage look best of all. So when I saw this Designer paper I knew that I just had to get it. I plan on using every single inch of every page. The piece used here is a left over chunk after making myself some matching tins to hold my Impression Folders etc. I plan on making up a bunch of coordinating tins to line my shelf and so I will have to use the extra's to stock up on my Masculine cards. Have you ever made a card just to make a card....this is one of those. It has no destination , I do not even know anyone turning 8. My youngest is 9 and a girl so this will not go far in her circle of friends. I am sure it will find a loving home to go to. I just wanted to play with this new set and it just designed itself...Lol. I am trying to stock up on my "For Sale" cards so this one will fall in that category. I was just wondering if anyone else makes a card, just to make a card. After I had got done cutting out all of the pennant letters I was not in the mood to cut out the ribbons for the gifts so I found the closest circle punch and went from there. Since summer life is slowing down and time for starting school is drawing close I decided I can take some time a few days a week and make a card. So today I made the time to do the Sketch challenge. I knew before I started that I wanted to use the designer brads in the center of the flower punch. When I was dusting my poor ignored stuff yesterday I saw the Tag Punch Die and so when I saw the sketch for today I knew I could incorporate that in to the card. I think the top looks like the wind is blowing around the pinwheel...lol. To do the pin wheel I stamped and cut out the dotted and solid and then offset layered them. For the border across I wanted it to be Espresso but it needed some design, so I ran it through the Big shot with am impression folder and then layered it on a flat piece and it was the exact effect that I wanted. I figured since I was going for a breezy calming effect that a banner for the sentiment would fit the layout great.

Don't you just love this set! The second I saw it it had to go on my list and it takes quite a bit to go straight to the order list for me. I am a ponderer and sets sometimes sit on my order list until they retire...now embellishments are another thing. It is hard to design with the kids constantly asking me questions. It seems I make quite a bit of mistakes. This time it worked out for the better. My daughter walked in and asked me a question just as I was putting my card front into the folder and through the Big Shot. I wanted the dots to pop up and did not bother to look to make sure I had them facing the right way until I removed it and noticed I did not. So I just flipped it over and ran it through again. This worked out so much better than I had originally intended it to.

I made the one layer out of a Window Sheet as I did not want to cover up the "mistake" but wanted to stay as close to the sketch as possible. I LOVE the dotted brads and hopefully I will not hoard but will continue to use them. The new In Colors are great and everything goes so well with Early Espresso (one of my favorites). The Wide Oval Punch fits perfect in the Designer Frames from the Designer Frame Impression Folder. The candy is popped up on about 3 Dimensions and fit on a Shish-Kabob Skewer, so thankful I had some left over....we don't really need them all for grilling do we?!?!

Our theme this year for Bible School was Rev it Up! So I was very pleased when I saw the Need for Speed set in the new catalog. I needed to make a bunch of Thank you cards for all of the volunteers so I put my kids to work punching and sponging. My 11 yr old son even cut out all of the cars for me after I stamped them. What great helpers I have and I think the cards turned out great and were appreciated!

I have a very dear friend who had a heart scare and is one of those people who just goes, and goes, and goes no matter what. So I wanted to make him a special card. Of course I had planned on using one of my new sets, but I could not think of a design I wanted so I hit the gallery at Splitcoaststampers. I found a card by the wonderful Michelle Zindorf and it took off from there. I cannot for the life of me use my brayer to get anything to look like hers so I used my sponges (and it still looks no where near as beautiful as hers) but I am happy enough to send it out.

In My Thoughts

When I saw this set I just had to have it. I send my mother a card for her to use every month and this set just made me think of her. I am not one who is very happy with coloring images so I usually try to stay away from this kind of sets but I know I will use it a lot and maybe improve enough in my coloring technique to venture on to other sets.

I was a very good girl and waited until the budget said it was alright before I ordered out of the new catalog so this is my first time playing with my new toys. The things I just had to have was the Perfect Pennant Die, and of course the new Impression folders. I love the Cherry Cobbler so it was an easy choice which color to get in one of the new ribbons. I loved that the image fit in the 2-1/2" circle punch except when I was coloring the image I stuck my pinkie in the ink and it got on the paper. It was a blessing in disguise because I have had the idea of the heart pop out for a long time and it fit perfect over my smudge. The pearls added the perfect touch to make the dots on the ribbon pop.

I needed a quick simple card to throw together. When I think fast it is easier for me to go the monochromatic way. I went straight for my Designer Paper to find a design and from there it all fell together. The hardest part was cutting out and curling the flowers. I usually pull the retired soon after they are announced but I just could not give up or stop using the Well Scripted. I never thought I would find a set that I could not replace or do with out, bu this one fits the bill....so far.

I sooo wish I had more time for designing and creating. I fell in love with these colors when I saw them setting out on my desk and it took me almost 2 weeks to get time to make something with them. I have loved the flowers I have sen made with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch that I just had to make some myself. The punch is so easy to use and has such a wide variety. I cannot wait until life slows down a bunch, I have some great ideas I want to try. Of course all of the edges are sponged to add more dimension and the flowers are popped up with Dimensionals.

Glimmer Butterflies

I needed a wow card that used some of the new and some of the old. I wanted it to shimmer and sparkle with lots of texture and dimension. The whole card is sprayed with Shimmer Paint/Rubbing Alcohol Mixture. To do the sentiment I stamped the stamp in the Wisteria Wonder and used the Eggplant Envy Marker to go over the word.

No, I was not this late in mailing this one. It actually got to him (my father-in-law) on time. It just took me this long to post it. I always look forward to summer but the my schedule or should I say my children's schedule is just as busy if not more so I look forward to school starting so we can get back to normal, or as normal as this household gets. lol To do the sentiment I punched the Modern Label Punch in half and layered it behind the sentiment with the oval behind that. I popped them up with dimensionals. The Tie I free cut (and it took me a few to get what I wanted). It is hard to see but it is layered on a Baja Breeze card base.

Yes...another Tri-Shutter card, but I think this one is the last one for awhile. The one thing I love about black and white DSP is that you can run the brayer with ink over it and turn it any color you wish. This is the retired Love Letter DSP. This card card for lots of frill and dazzle so I sprayed it down with the Shimmer paint/rubbing alcohol mixture.

Here is the Name frame that I had made the Rattle Card to match. When I think of the name Sadie, my new niece, I think of a vintage name and just went that way. Since I do not have much for new DSP yet, since she was born the day before the catalog release, I was still using up my last years DSP. If you visit often you know that I am a punch lover and the new triple punches are GREAT! It is hard to tell with my images but the letters a sponged (surprised ?!?!) and ran through the big shot with an impression folder.

Baby Rattle

I was in the need of a baby card for a little girl....so I went blue?!?! The reason was I also did a name frame, which you will see on Friday, and I wanted the card to go with the frame. I make my frames so that they hopefully will grow with them so I try not to do them in a babyish manner. So the card took on that look to begin with. I think the rattle made it turn back to the baby card and the ruffles gave it a feminine look. I love, love, love the new Lace Ribbon Border Punch. I have not been able to stop using it.

I have been able to make at least one card a week but then I do not have time to post them. Altered CD Case

My daughter wanted so badly for her friends to have these as a thank you gift for coming to her 9th birthday party. I had ordered some of the Clear Mount Stamp Cases (4 for $4.95). We measured the lining, scored the folds and started decorating.

She loves to sponge edges as much as I do so she had very pretty finger tips when she was done. To do the Crown we stamped and embossed first. We then masked the crown with another crown that I had stamped and cut out on a piece of scratch paper. So when we stamped the "My Friend" it looked like it was behind the crown. The butterfly was sprayed with the shimmer paint/rubbing alcohol mixture to give it just a bit of glimmer.

The inside we decided to put a post-it note pad, pen held on with a cable clip and a pack of gum stuck on with glue dots, all she thought we needed to add was a stick of lip balm...but we do not have any stores within a 30 min drive so she got what I had on hand. ;-) (Her friends loved them anyway!)

So I am hooked on the Tri-Shutter Cards that I just had to make another one. I thought how fun would it be to do a graduation one. To see the tutorial on Splitcoast click here. The tassel is just very finely cut paper with the end left intact and placed under a brad. The C is on Dimensionals to pop it up. The diploma is just Very Vanilla Card stock rolled up, tied and curled up the edges and held on with glue dots. Off to make some more!

I have had this card on my list of things to do for a very long time. Our eldest son and his wonderful wife celebrate their 5th anniversary today and I could not think of a better card for them. For those who want a tutorial, it can be found on Splitcoast. It was not as hard to make as I thought it would be. The designing is what took me so long (about 3 hours) but now that I know what I am doing they should go a lot faster next time.

I sponged all of the edges...;-)

The flowers were punched, sponged and edges curled. They were adhered with glue dots to the card. I used the small side of crop-a-dile to get the center of the flower and adhered it with the Mono-adhesive and a toothpick to put it just where I wanted it. The Amour is popped up on Dimensionals.

I slit the edges of the center, bottom panel with my craft knife and slid the ribbon around to tie. I made sure it stayed where I wanted it to be with a few glue dots.

The butterfly is cut out twice. The bottom one is glued flat while the top one is folded with some more glue dots ran down the center

The Happy Anniversary just barely fit...I am so glad that it did! The bottom panel was left blank so that we could sign the card.

My mother-in-law is a country girl with love of flowers and butterflies so that was the look I was going for here. I sponged and curled a bunch of edges. To get the flower centers I used the large side of the crop-a-dile to get a small circle. I noticed I have been using retired sets lately. I really need to clean out my setsa nd get them straightened out. Free time is what I am lacking and if I do find some spare time cleaning is the last thing on my mind...I want to stamp! Wow, my weeks have been busy and to top it off I found out last week that I have pneumonia! I had this project scheduled to post last week. I finally figured out that I never saw it come through my e-mails and when I went to see why it had not posted I found that not only had it not saved any of my information, it had done the same to all 3 of the projects I had ready to go. All was gone except for the image....not fun!

So this was the card that went to my beautiful mother for Mother's Day. The flower was stamped with versa mark and embossed with Whisper White embossing powder. I then used the re-inker and Aqua Pen to color it in. I find it is easier to color before I cut it out...that way I do not have to stay in the lines. I kept it pretty simple so that it would make it through the mail and actually arrive on time.

My daughter wanted a cute girly card to go with her gift for her birthday party last week so this is what I came up with. The girl's mother told me that her daughter loves purple. The bear and balloons are popped up with dimensionals and the banner and butterfly was curled and adhered with Mono adhesive. I wanted the background to look sky like so I tore a sheet of paper and did a bunch of edge sponging.

Hubby called again today and needed a sympathy card for someone at work. It once again had to be a full size card for many signatures. So this card is 8.5" x 5.5". It went together very simple and quick. This Love Letter Designer paper is becoming my "go to" paper and I will have to stock up if it is dis-continued at the end of the catalog. The butterfly was sponged with Very Vanilla Craft ink to soften the edges just a bit. The Sympathy is pop up with many dimensionals and the butterfly is stuck on with Mono Adhesive.

Spinner Happy Birthday

I really needed a manly happy Birthday card for my Father-in-Law last week. I did not have a clue where to start. Before I ran my kids to band I set out all of the colors I wanted to use and in the order I wanted them placed. I took a picture of the pile with my cell phone and took it with me. twice a week I sit for 2 hours while my boys take turn having band lessons. The downfall of not living in town where they could walk. So I studied the picture and the layout from the sketch challenge while I was waiting. So after I got home and fed the kids lunch I was ready to make it all fall in place. I loved the spinner cards and just had to have them but the right opportunity just did not come up until now. I did not have any black brads so I had to make them but heating the up with the heat gun, dipping them in the black embossing powder and heating again if needed. I love that sponging ink around the edges of the Love Letter paper does so much but yet so little. I had it all lined up straight and was ready to adhere and I decided to shift it all just a bit. I am glad that I did.

Baby Boy Name Plaque

I had to get together a baby shower gift so this weeks posts will contain the card, bag and gift that I made this last weekend. I wanted them all to co-ordinate so I tried to keep the circle theme and colors through out.

I found the easiest way to make the circles is to punch the small one first and work my way out. Since for the 3 projects I was working on I started with the 3/8" circle punch and worked my way out to the 1-3/4" circle punch. That way I had various sizes to work with and used as little card stock as possible.
